I work with individual adults, especially college students/young adults, those with grief/ loss, life transitions, and survivors of abuse/trauma.
Not accepting new clients until fall 2024. The thought of meeting with a therapist can be intimidating, and I pride myself in my clients describing me as being very down to earth and easy to talk with. Most individuals who have never pursued therapy before are pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoy this relationship. I work with Willis (Great Pyrenees/Great Dane) who is an AKC Canine Good Citizen and registered Therapy Dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs. He is available to be present during appointments if desired.

Life is full of plot twists. It can be helpful to talk to someone outside of your family or friends to get a fresh perspective, new ideas, and objective feedback. Because no one has the same experiences, everyone has unique needs and challenges. Each person also has strengths and survival skills that have allowed him or her to get to this moment. Most people can't see their strengths and skills because they overlook, underestimate, or down play them.

We all want to be happy and feel hopeful about the future, but sometimes life's stressors can make it quite challenging. Therapy can help. I work with clients to teach them healthy coping and how to change their perspective. A new way of thinking can truly make a significant impact on how a person feels. I am trained in EMDR therapy, a powerful treatment for trauma and PTSD. I graduated from Bradley University with a masters degree in Human Development Counseling and have over 10 years experience providing therapy.

There is a quote that says, “Life is a journey that is not to be feared and planned but to be traveled and enjoyed.” However, with many of us, no matter how much and succinctly we plan our life, things do not go as we plan which affects our happiness (depression) and trigger our fears (anxiety). Seeking help to manage the journey can make all the difference and can help with taking the focus off of the detours of the journey that causes the unhappiness while placing joy on the ability to see the lesson and beauty in the detours.
