Therapy is work, but it's not something you have to do alone. As a therapist, I work from a relational model that considers both individual and systematic aspects of life to create a better understanding of what is brought into session. In collaboration, I'm a firm believer in showing up authentically and welcome clients to do the same as we work together.

You may find yourself experiencing toxic relationships/codependency, eating disorders, drugs & alcohol, anxiety, and perfectionism – the list of the ways we distract and soothe ourselves from discomfort goes on and on. You may find the need to learn more about yourself and your relationships, process life events, share things that are difficult to share with other people or explore how past experiences have shaped you. I am passionate about helping clients foster self-awareness by using motivational interviewing, to meet you right where you are. You don't need to be in a crisis to benefit from therapy.

You may want to make changes, yet feel beaten down by worry. A part of you may be aware that difficult experiences you’ve faced throughout your life could be connected to your current struggles. As an intuitive holistic counselor I believe we can change by healing from the inside out. What shows up in our outer life through negative thoughts, unwanted behaviors, body discomfort or difficult feelings can be a signal or sign we are ready for change. I believe the present symptoms or conditions give us clues to what is going on inside, possibly connected to past difficult experiences that need attention, understanding and healing.

My therapeutic style focuses on safety & empowerment. I may be the clinician, but I honor the fact that you are the expert of your own life. I build trust by wearing my heart on my sleeve. I would never ask you to risk your vulnerability if I am unwilling to risk my own. I may use humor to foster hope & ease discomfort. I welcome you to question my perspectives to improve the power of our co-created insights. We will collaborate to develop ways for you to make new choices, break old patterns, and build more effective supports. Our work will help you unlock your potential for healing, and get you closer to the person you want to be.

I work with individual adults, especially college students/young adults, those with grief/ loss, life transitions, and survivors of abuse/trauma.
Not accepting new clients until spring 2025. The thought of meeting with a therapist can be intimidating, and I pride myself in my clients describing me as being very down to earth and easy to talk with. Most individuals who have never pursued therapy before are pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoy this relationship. I work with Willis (Great Pyrenees/Great Dane) who is an AKC Canine Good Citizen and registered Therapy Dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs. He is available to be present during appointments if desired.

We all want to be happy and feel hopeful about the future, but sometimes life's stressors can make it quite challenging. Therapy can help. I work with clients to teach them healthy coping and how to change their perspective. A new way of thinking can truly make a significant impact on how a person feels. I am trained in EMDR therapy, a powerful treatment for trauma and PTSD. I graduated from Bradley University with a masters degree in Human Development Counseling and have over 10 years experience providing therapy.

Life is full of plot twists. It can be helpful to talk to someone outside of your family or friends to get a fresh perspective, new ideas, and objective feedback. Because no one has the same experiences, everyone has unique needs and challenges. Each person also has strengths and survival skills that have allowed him or her to get to this moment. Most people can't see their strengths and skills because they overlook, underestimate, or down play them.

There is a quote that says, “Life is a journey that is not to be feared and planned but to be traveled and enjoyed.” However, with many of us, no matter how much and succinctly we plan our life, things do not go as we plan which affects our happiness (depression) and trigger our fears (anxiety). Seeking help to manage the journey can make all the difference and can help with taking the focus off of the detours of the journey that causes the unhappiness while placing joy on the ability to see the lesson and beauty in the detours.
