I also offer cognitive (IQ) testing, as well as testing for AD/HD and learning disabilities.
I help parents and kids learn to speak the same language, so that parents can respond to challenging behaviors in an effective and confident way, and kids feel safe, supported, and understood. Nobody heals or changes in a vacuum, and so I focus on building supports throughout the systems that my clients live in.

I also believe in using evidence-based practices, which are proven strategies for learning and development.
I specialize in parents. Sessions can be done virtually in the comfort of your own home or even during your lunch break at work. Parent training equips caregivers with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to support their child's development and navigate challenges effectively. By investing in parent training, you are not only investing in the long-term success of the child but also bridging a stronger bond between parents and their children through improved communication and understanding.

That’s why I provide a collaborative experience that uses a goal-oriented approach to learning and implementing CBT, meditation and mindfulness strategies that quiet your negative thoughts and make space for healthier ones.
“The mind is everything. What you think you become.” - Buddha. Are your thoughts racing constantly? Do you often find yourself believing the negative thoughts? Many people find it difficult to escape their inner negative dialogue, which often become a part of our behavioral patterns. I am a clinical psychologist who has over 14 years experience working with individuals, couples, and families struggling to quiet their thoughts, change unproductive behavioral patterns, and determine the best direction forward in their lives.

I find myself working with individuals who like hands-on learning and embrace creativity.
I consider being a therapist my calling, one that is drawn from my personal experiences. I know firsthand how challenging the process of seeking the right therapist to meet your individual needs can be. I understand how uncomfortable it can be to tell a stranger what is bothering you, but I admire the bravery it takes to make that first step. I am driven by a commitment to creating an empathetic, supportive, and creative space that encourages individuals to be themselves without judgment.

Individuals, couples, adolescents and young adults benefit from talking with someone who is objective, empathetic & supportive-- exploring concerns, gaining insight, and learning coping skills to become more resilient. In this stressful world, mental health concerns effect us all. I make therapy a conduit for people to recognize and use their own strengths and help them develop coping skills to better adapt to challenges and overcome obstacles--whether they are with relationships, health, work or family. My goal is for people to use the therapeutic work we do as a "spring-board" to greater success and happiness in their lives.

I have significant experience in working with those faced with anxiety, school phobia, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and other learning problems.
As a clinical social worker practicing for decades, I continue to believe that establishing a positive therapeutic relationship is critical for client success. Trust takes time however, and needs to be earned. Clients are made comfortable through using humor and a genuine interest in their life story. The power of creativity to solve problems and enhance the quality of one’s life is foundational.

Psychological testing can be helpful to determine how a person's mood and personality impacts his/her life, help students figure out why they are struggling in school, and assess for ADHD, learning disabilities or giftedness.
The decision to enter into therapy can be difficult and scary. I try to make this process less stressful and put individuals at ease. I meet every individual where they are at in the process of change and strive to provide a warm, safe, and supportive environment. I feel very passionate about the importance and value of therapy because I believe every individual can benefit from therapy at some point in his or her life. I work with individuals to help them make changes that will move them closer to feeling better and living the life he or she desires.

Education and Learning Disabilities Therapists

How effective is treatment for learning disabilities?

When initiated early and tailored to a child’s specific needs, learning disability treatment can be quite effective at helping a child cope with their disability, though its exact efficacy may depend on the severity of symptoms and whether comorbid disorders exist. Less is known about treatment initiated in adulthood, but it is certainly possible that an adult with a learning disability will see some improvement—or at the very least, identify workarounds and accommodations that could make symptoms less burdensome in day-to-day life.

When should someone seek treatment for learning disabilities?

It’s best to seek treatment as early as possible. Because learning disabilities often go unnoticed until a child starts school, or even until they’re a few years along, regular check-ins with teachers and doctors can help parents determine whether children are meeting milestones and keeping up with peers or whether an evaluation for learning disabilities may be warranted. And although earlier is always better, it’s never too late to be evaluated for learning disabilities and to seek treatment.

What happens if learning disabilities are left untreated?

Undiagnosed and untreated learning disabilities can be a source of significant frustration and shame for a child, who may feel that their challenges stem from a lack of intelligence or willpower. Such feelings can trigger low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety, which may push a child toward risky behaviors, including substance use. In adulthood, untreated learning disabilities can interfere with career success, and lingering feelings of self-doubt and shame can negatively affect someone’s mental health.

Are there medications for learning disabilities?

Currently, there are no medications designed to treat specific learning disabilities such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia. However, someone with a learning disability may be prescribed medication for a comorbid condition, such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, which may have positive downstream effects on their learning disability; for example, a child with both ADHD and dyslexia may find that they’re better able to focus on their reading exercises after being prescribed a stimulant medication.
