Because I have over thirty years of experience, I am able to relate to a broad range of issues including: separation and loss, depression, anxiety disorders, traumatic stress, and relationship problems.
I see psychotherapy as a collaborative process. From this perspective, I have developed an individualized approach in which the relationship provides a safe place where feelings and behavior can be explored. Often, current struggles have developed over time so that connections can be made to past experiences. With this understanding a person can begin to make changes which lead to greater satisfaction and happiness. I bring a solid eclectic knowledge base to the process, drawing on individual dynamics, relationship dynamics, and an understanding of human development throughout the life cycle. I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents (including their families).

Are you feeling alone, stuck or that something in your life needs to change? Would you like to take control of your life, instead of it controlling you? I have worked with those struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar, stress management, relationship conflict, divorce, LGBT issues, grief/loss and trauma and helped them take back control of their lives. By working together to identify your unique needs, the source of distress, and what's perpetuating the problem, I will help you develop the tools to navigate and overcome the obstacles preventing you from finding fulfillment and living the life you want!

I have worked with youth/adults in the areas of stress, trauma, relationship and life transitions.
*Currently accepting clients via telehealth* In a world of constant transitions, it can be challenging to feel settled with change. Therapy is an outlet to discuss, explore and change aspects of our lives that are causing distress. Therapy allows a supportive, non-judgmental space to talk through feelings and engage our strengths to cope with life's changes. I provide action-oriented, supportive, feminist, and person-centered psychotherapy. I am a bi-lingual (Spanish-speaking) and bi-cultural therapist that understands cultural influences and can express feelings and thoughts in a language that my clients feel comfortable.

My work with adults has been focused on assisting those who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and life changes.
I believe therapy is a collaboration between client and therapist, working together to understand and shift patterns that may not be working for you anymore. I understand the strength it takes to face challenges and the sense of vulnerability that goes along with it. I believe the relationship that develops between client and therapist fosters a comfortable space where honest dialogue can happen. My approach is straightforward, encouraging and comes with a bit of humor as a way to remind ourselves that life is supposed to be enjoyed.

I'm Nicole, your go-to therapist for when parenting feels like trying to fold a fitted sheet or when marriage feels like assembling IKEA furniture—frustrating yet oddly rewarding. With a dash of humor and relatability, I help parents and couples untangle the knots of family life and relationship hiccups. Think of me as your emotional GPS, guiding you through the detours with a smile (and maybe a few bad jokes). Let's work together to turn those stress-filled sighs into genuine laughs, and those "We need to talk" moments into "I'm glad we talked" moments.

Throughout our relationship, thoughts will shift, behaviors will alter, ideas challenged and goals will be met.
My life journey has taught me the importance of embracing the pain, identifying lessons and moving beyond the turmoil. And, oh is that difficult, however, with patience, hard work and prayer all things can shift. I carry this motto while counseling clients, educating students and advocating for justice.

I enjoy working with adults using a holistic approach grounded in evidence-based practices to address a variety of concerns including: anxiety, depression, relationship problems, grief, life transitions, substance use, divorce, self-esteem building, intimacy difficulties, parenting and women’s issues.
I believe in the importance of meeting people where they are in this moment - not asking you to feel, look, or act like someone you are not. My therapeutic approach is centered around providing a caring space where you can safely share your thoughts free from judgement. I invite you to slow down and explore your values, emotions and life experiences to help gain a deeper understanding of yourself and relationships, including recognizing patterns that contribute to stress and anxiety. Together, we can begin the process of increasing self-awareness, practicing self-acceptance, and building practical skills to cope with life’s issues.

I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is an essential part of the process.
You don’t have to let anxiety, depression, trauma, work-related stress, relationships, or anything else keep you from moving toward your goals and the life you want. We all have different lived experiences, but regardless of your current stage in life, you are worthy of living your life to the fullest. I received my MA in counseling from Northwestern University where I was trained in psychodynamic therapy (a common form of talk therapy). However, I am also a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. I specialize in life transitions and know that any change, positive or not, can at times be difficult.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
