I also like working with adult men and women, young adult issues, marital therapy, relationship therapy as well as grief and loss counseling.

My focus as a therapist is to help individuals who have experienced trauma, anxieties, and depression. Through the therapeutic relationship, I work with people to increase their personal discovery and gain access to the expression of authentic emotion. I believe we are innately designed to survive, and sometimes our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are negatively enacted. My framework identifies that each person is doing the best they can in the moment and it is the therapist’s job to investigate additional moments of resilience, persistence, and self-compassion toward healing.

As a clinician, I believe that it is important to meet each individual, couple, and family where they are at. I have many years of experience working with couples to heal their relationships, as well as working with individuals who are going through life-stage transitions. I enjoy helping people navigate through pivotal moments such as children launching, loss of a loved one, retirement, and caring for aging parents. I provide services via telehealth/video, allowing you to receive quality therapy services from where you are most comfortable.

I have been providing psychological services to Mchenry county for the last 17 years. My experience is diverse and my approach to therapy is evidenced-based. I comprehend mental health issues from not only a psychological, but also from a social and neurological perspective. With this being stated I have developed a unique and comprehensive understanding of my clients. I have worked with several challenging clients and pride myself in my ability to modify treatment interventions for each client's unique needs. Essentially treatment is a team approach and I am here to walk with the client on the path to recovery.

Hello and Welcome - My journey into counseling began with a passion for helping others navigate life's challenges and find fulfillment. I opened my practice in 2014 after meeting and working with Brene Brown’s team in San Antonio, Texas. I've had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, and families facing various issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts, and trauma. My approach to counseling is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and empowerment.

I view therapy as a step towards a more content and peaceful way of being, and approaches every individual, couple or family in an open and supportive manner. I provide guidance and encouragement towards change through building self-awareness and empowerment. I provide psychotherapy to individuals and couples, specializing in adults and teens. Clients come to me with problems such as anxiety issues, depression, marital stress, relational abuse, job stress and past sexual abuse. I have also worked with men suffering from anger problems. The preferred style is one of a partnership, with agreed upon goals, going at a pace that is comfortable and appropriate for the client. I care about each individual and work toward helping them find the road to wholeness and healing

We all go through times in our lives when we find ourselves a little lost and simply need someone to help us find our way. I have been helping adolescents, adults and families find their way through challenging times since 1996. Primarily I utilize a client centered approach that allows clients to be in charge of their therapy and decide what the course of treatment will be and what goals to focus on. I also encourage clients to find their motivation and passions in life that will empower them to continue growing beyond the time in counseling.

I enjoy and have experience in working with individuals, families and couples across the life span. I have extensive practice with ADHD and parent support utilizing a variety of evidence based practices and psychoeducation and training.

My passion is to assist my clients in identifying and building upon their own strengths throughout the treatment process. Together we can create a safe, welcoming, confidential, and supportive environment. In doing so, we are better able to prepare for and overcome times of crisis. My wide array of experience comes from a variety of inpatient, outpatient, non-profit, childcare, and educational settings. I am heavily involved in the McHenry County Suicide Prevention Task Force and take a special interest in working with those struggling with self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideation, and/or suicide bereavement.

My job, as I see it, is not to fix you, but to help you fix yourself. To do that, I help you find the tools you already have and remind you that - on some deep level - you already know how to use them. My approach is cognitive, because I believe the way we think about our lives helps create them.

Our experienced team of therapists has been helping clients achieve their best self, better relationships, and a more balanced life since 2012. The more common struggles we help clients overcome are anxiety and depression, trauma and PTSD, relationship problems, and parenting challenges. If you have been wrestling with these or other issues, we are here to help. We work with older kids (8+), adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Most of our therapists are EMDR trained (EMDRIA approved) and also use other effective approaches including CBT, DBT, and systemic approaches.
