Ms. Nicholson is a private practitioner and president of Stella M. Nicholson and Associates, Lombard, Illinois where she counsels Adult Children of Alcoholics/Co-dependants, alcoholics/addicts, couples, and specializes in the treatment of families and children. She has worked in the addiction and mental health field since 1978. In addition to her practice, Ms. Nicholson has served as a consultant/trainer to numerous treatment facilities, mental health organizations, hospitals, schools and institutions regarding program development and implementation Her commitment is to help people to put the pieces of their lives together again Ms. Nicholson has also authored two workbooks.

One thing I value as a counselor is having the privilege to witness and take part in the potential for recovery and healing that can occur, even in the midst of great strife or despair.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and forensic specialist with more than 35 years of experience helping people. My treatment approach encourages patients to be active participants in their own therapeutic growth and I have vast experience in the treatment of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic and anxiety disorders in all age groups, including children, and in forensic psychology.

When you feel safe and supported, then and only then are you able to let your guard down and get in touch with your core issues and feelings. The most important measure of whether therapy will have a positive outcome is the connection between you and your therapist. For this reason, my goal is to create a warm and supportive environment in which you will be respectfully heard, cared about and not judged in any way. My overall approach is conversational, non-judgemental and solution focused with humor and laughter always welcome :)

Working from the belief that change is always possible, I help my clients identify their strengths, what's getting in the way of making changes in their life, and the most effective ways to achieve their goals. I seek to understand your personal, cultural and spiritual beliefs. Through this holistic approach, I tailor treatments based upon your unique needs. Therapy process is like an organized sport which has players and a coach. Players make the moves, working hard (you) and the coach (me) is guiding and directing.

Helene Jacques is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor who has been in practice since 2000. She sees adolescents and adults for individual and family therapy. Helene has extensive experience working with clients dealing with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, adoption concerns, relationship problems, stress management, medical and health concerns, and post-abortion issues. Helene was trained in an eclectic model of therapy and relies on this knowledge base to select effective treatment approaches for each client or family.
