My prior professional experience has related to providing services to older youth, age 19 through 21 who had experienced a great deal of trauma, loss and abuse. These young adults reinforced for me the importance of recognizing and enhancing individual strengths and validated for me that we all possess the capability of resiliency in the face of adversity; consequently I believe in every individual's ability to identify and work toward change in their life.

I'm a compassionate professional who believes in the healing power of psychotherapy. I see therapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist and I enjoy helping clients to explore the nature of their problems and to discover avenues for positive change. My non-judgmental stance and careful approach are strengths of my practice, to which many of my clients have attested. I have over 12 years of experience working with a diverse range of clients. Andy Benson, LCSW and CADC, offers a compassionate and nonjudgmental space for clients in Illinois, providing individualized and effective evidencebased treatment. Specializing in the treatment of substance abuse, PTSD/trauma, and cooccurring disorders. Andy has extensive experience working with first responders, older adults, and other diverse populations. His approach involves deep listening and understanding, meeting clients where they are to facilitate their healing and growth. At LifeStance Health, Andy Benson is dedicated to helping adults and seniors navigate the complexities of their mental health.
