At Health in Tandem, our motto is "where mind and body meet." We passionately believe that we cannot manage mental health without incorporating physical wellness, and that in order to improve physical performance, we must incorporate mental skills training. You are not a one-size-fits-all, so the approach our therapists take with you shouldn't be either. We take a step back and look at your life as a whole - what are all of the components that make you, you? What are the factors in your life that have been out of whack, maybe for awhile? How can we treat the whole of who you are, rather than the symptoms you list off?

Hi, I’d like to share a philosophy that guides me as a therapist: making therapy approachable and understandable. I believe that starts with building a real connection, so I want to share a bit about myself. I’m a Black pre-licensed therapist passionate about supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, particularly those dealing with identity issues, anxiety, and depression. I believe in exploring life’s challenges and recognizing that many struggles come from factors beyond our control. Together, we can understand what’s causing that pain and begin to reclaim your direction.

Therapy is a place that balances acceptance and change. Maybe you have noticed an imbalance in your life and are struggling to either find out or work towards what matters most to you. I want to be your collaborator as we work towards what you care about by integrating mindfulness, curiosity about the body, looking at past patterns, and understanding how larger societal systems impact you. My goal is to help you live a life you feel connected to and are proud of. The success of our work together is dependent upon the establishment of a solid relationship between us and collaboration.

I have worked extensively through the years with clients who struggle with severe and debilitating anxiety, performance anxiety, social anxiety, athletic performance, e- sports performance, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), emotional expression, and communication difficulties.
I’m a big believer that therapy doesn’t have to be buttoned-up or artificial. It should be comfortable and real. I prefer to facilitate a casual, collaborative, & affirming environment where we can openly discuss anything that’s on your mind and empower you to explore who you are and how you relate to others. I specialize in working working with athletes (professional and amateur), e- sports athletes, musicians, poly relationships and fellow therapists in individual, relationship, and family contexts.

Trained in health and sports psychology, I've seen how people experience anxiety, depression, & shame when they feel like they're not living up to their potential.
Accepting New Clients, Telehealth Appointments Only: Do you feel anxious or have doubts that hold you back from achieving more in life? Perhaps you feel like a failure for not having met high expectations, those of yourself or of others. Maybe you have met those expectations and are doing all the "right" things, but still feel unfulfilled. Or maybe you've accomplished a goal and don't know what to do next, but feel like you're supposed to figure it out quickly so you don't fall behind.

My clinical interests include perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship challenges, and sports performance.
From personal and professional experiences, I have learned that connection is foundational, acceptance is powerful, and change is possible. When we feel disconnected from ourselves, our relationships, or our community, life can feel distressing, isolating, and hopeless at times. My goal in therapy is to hold a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space for acceptance, re-connection, and healing change to occur.

Sports Performance Therapists

How does sports psychology work?

Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.

How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?

The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.

How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?

Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.

What are the limitations of sports psychology?

Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
