Not accepting new clients
I help clients examine their internal and interpersonal lives, and develop new approaches for handling personal issues more effectively.
My approach to providing therapy is collaborative and based on the client's existing strengths. I believe in the client's inherent ability to find his/her own solutions to life's challenges, and see my role as a guide in helping to unearth those solutions. I have a warm and open demeanor, which helps to put clients at ease. My style in practicing therapy is active and vocal. With compassion and respect, I will always offer my perspective on any given problem a client may face.

As a therapist, I am focused on being genuine and mindful with client(s). My individualized approach, along with working together produces the best results. It helps you identify and explore sources of stress, set specific goals, and identify methods to achieve the desired outcome(s). Often times, simply shifting our choices, behaviors, expectations or perceptions can lead to significant improvements in how we feel. Positive outcomes are created with desire and guidance.

Are you feeling frustrated by the consistent pattern of unfulfilling and frustrating relationship issues in your life and have wondered to yourself, ‘maybe I need to work on me’? Perhaps you are struggling to manage overwhelming feelings with pregnancy or navigating the minefields of pregnancy, prenatal, or postpartum? Or maybe you are a woman that is feeling frustrated that penetrative sex feels painful and less enjoyable than you thought it would be? Either way, you're feeling disheartened that your life does not look like you imagined it would and you're looking for a change.

***Dr. Sachdev currently has limited daytime availability at both offices***A therapist can be an ally and partner during times when life presents us with challenges that make us feel stuck. A strong therapeutic relationship can help us feel safe and comfortable as we work to understand ourselves and get 'unstuck'. As a clinician, I aim to develop a strong therapeutic alliance with my clients. I am present and accessible to my clients. I have a warm and very down-to-earth style that helps my clients find their voice as we embark on a journey towards empowerment.

I approach the therapy relationship from an open and collaborative perspective. I predominantly use interpersonal, mindfulness, and family systems theories in my clinical work. My commitment is to actively listen with compassion; to witness your growth; to learn about your worldview and experiences; and to provide support as we work towards your goals. I want my patients to feel immediate relief with self care, education, and some skill building. Long term maintenance of growth tends to include deeper self reflection, exploring coping and relationship patterns, and emotional awareness.

Clients working with me can trust I will provide a safe & nonjudgmental environment to spend time with themselves, explore & resolve interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts, to learn self-validation, grounding techniques, problem-solving tools & other healthy coping skills to overcome traumatic triggers to create healthier behaviors in the here and now.
So many times we pre-judge situations based on past traumas or conditioning. Entering an intimate space with yourself is no easy task. But with the help of someone you trust, it makes the journey easier to embrace. It is my belief that my job as a therapist is to help my clients connect the dots within their lives in order to enhance their overall mental health. This is done by unpacking, exploring and examining roadblocks from our past that are preventing us from being present in the here & now. This type of awareness helps to foster continual growth & grants access to understanding the story behind our behaviors.

I use an integrative treatment pulling from Humanistic, Systems, Trauma-Informed, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while incorporating expressive therapy techniques for individual clients. For couples therapy, I use the Emotionally Focused Couples therapy techniques to help couples understand and dismantle unhealth conflict cycles.

I believe there are three major components to a well-balanced state of mind - they are Love, Purpose, and Value. If either is missing, you could experience some level of mental distress. I specialize in working with the average person trying to earn a living and take care of their family. I treat individuals who struggle with anger, depression, self-esteem and other interpersonal concerns.

Interpersonal Therapists

Is interpersonal therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found interpersonal therapy to be effective for life transitions including retirement, divorce, and job loss. Also, some studies have found it to be just as useful as medication and other therapy approaches. The benefits of interpersonal therapy can last long after treatment has been completed; the individual can use the tenets of this therapy throughout their life.

How long does interpersonal therapy take?

Interpersonal psychotherapy is normally time-limited and focuses on specific problems in the client’s everyday relationships. Treatment can be either one-on-one or take place in a group setting; it tends to last 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the individual client’s needs. If a new interpersonal problem arises in the future, the client may require additional therapy to address it specifically. The timeline and session schedule may vary depending on the client’s challenges as well as their progress. Treatment may conclude with wrap-up sessions to review the client’s accomplishments.

Is interpersonal therapy effective?

Research shows that interpersonal therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of conditions such as depression or anxiety. The approach may also offer a range of benefits that are hard to measure but valuable—including healthier relationships and improved feelings of self-worth. The therapist will give the client practical solutions that can be put into practice. The brief duration of this therapy also means that clients can see changes in their relationships fairly quickly.

What are the limitations of interpersonal therapy?

Interpersonal therapy may not effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as psychosis, chronic illness, or alcohol relapse. Because it is short-term in nature, it may not be the best approach for conditions that need to be tracked, though maintenance sessions are a viable approach under these circumstances.

Can interpersonal psychotherapy be done online?

Yes, interpersonal psychotherapy can be conducted effectively either in-person or online. A therapist with expertise in IPT will be able to adjust their techniques, such as role-playing, to better suit the online environment. Offering online IPT can make it more accessible for clients who have transportation difficulties; it also provides the ideal opportunity to explore challenges unique to digital relationships.
