I work with individuals, couples, and families struggling with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, addiction issues (substance abuse), troubled teens, school failure, LGBTQ+, and trauma and identity issues. As a lifelong allied and friend to the LGBTQ+ community, I work very hard to remain current to concerns that are specific to marginalized communities. The decision to begin a therapeutic journey can be daunting yet richly rewarding. Most times when we are in the middle of those challenges we forget to check in with ourselves. We forget to nourish our spirits, minds and body. When that happens it can lead us to a dark place where our traumas and how we deal with them come to surface. Counseling can help address all these things and more. Many of my clients suffer from depression and/or anxiety and substance abuse and respond best to CBT and mindfulness techniques. They mostly request the alleviation of symptoms and to learn how to relax. I also deal with several women who have relationship issues, such as absent fathers and trust issues. I use a forgiveness curriculum in part to assist them with these issues.
