Whether you are grappling with anxiety, navigating life transitions, coping with grief, seeking support as you chase a dream/goal or simply looking to lead a healthier, more balanced life, I offer a nurturing and flexible approach to help you find your core.
Are you ready to heal and grow? Are you willing to put in the work? I will support and counsel you along your path. Counseling sessions with me are your time to talk, to let out frustrations, to explore new strategies, to imagine what you could be, and to make concrete, purposeful steps on the road to a healthier, more balanced you. With a new perspective, comes new energy. Together, we assess what is working and what is not. We discuss the patterns and habits which have served their purpose, but are no longer serving you. Although you know yourself best, sometimes you need to be reminded what you can do and who you can be.

Life can be difficult to manage, whether you are going through a temporary rough patch in your life or you struggle with anxiety or depression. Emotions are a natural occurrence in our everyday life. However, some of us have more trouble dealing with these emotions, which, at times, can prove to be unbearable for some.

If you, or a person close to you are experiencing a life transition, dealing with loss, experiencing communication difficulties, and/or feeling unpleasant emotions such as depression or anxiety, Lilly is here to help.
Sometimes during your journey in life, or in the journeys of persons close to us, we get lost. Ideally, there is a book nearby when lost that tells us specifically how to solve life's challenges. If such a book exists, I've not encountered one. During such times, the practice of psychotherapy is often the "book" and answers we seek. Lilly is a licensed clinical professional counselor who provides therapy for adolescents, adults and families. Her caring and energetic approach involves collaboration with clients and if applicable, families. She integrates all aspects of a person to best help.

Therapy can help you navigate your emotional challenges and gain clarity on what factors make you thrive, and which ones limit you. You can learn to identify the patterns that make you stuck and how to change the script.

Many of us, from time to time, find that depression, anxiety or stress can cause us to get "stuck", where negative thoughts and unhelpful behavior patterns keep us from meeting the goals we wish to achieve, or enjoying our relationships to the fullest degree possible. I can help you move beyond those "stuck points", and to identify the obstacles and challenges in your way. I will help empower you to achieve your personal goals for a healthy, successful life. Together we will work to create a unique and specific plan, where you will develop new, positive patterns of thinking and behavior.

I understand a wide range of therapy needs including depression, anxiety, life transitions, stress management, self-esteem and grief.
During my career as a therapist, I have gained the expertise in joining a person "where they are at" while developing an environment of safety, security and mutual respect. I have been told that my voice and manner quickly communicates friendliness and kindness, and that people overall, find that I am not at all intimidating and very easy to talk to. I provide an integrative supportive approach that allows for healing and growth. I combine Motivational Enhancement with Cognitive Behavioral interventions to assist in identifying the unique qualities and strengths of each person I work with to evoke change and emotional wellness.

Starting therapy can be intimidating, but the first session often alleviates worry as we collaboratively discuss concerns and establish goals.
We can all feel overwhelmed with life sometimes. Life is challenging and often unpredictable. I believe strongly that the power of a trusting relationship can help us work through what holds us back and keeps us from living the life we want. I primarily work with children, adolescents and young adults.

There are times when our life, or the lives of family members are no longer as enjoyable as planned. Sadness, arguments, anxiety, and substance use often occur when we experience ourselves going into a direction we don't like. During these challenges, the core of disagreements may simply be a different viewpoint on how a person should live and think. When your challenges become chronic, despite efforts to change, its time to involve professionals. When your way of thinking/behaving no longer progress you towards your goals....it may be time to make the call you frequently thought of making.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with 18 years experience working with children, tweens, teens, adolescents, young adults and their families. We can all agree that at every age and stage of life we encounter hurdles. As we attempt to negotiate these hurdles they may bring about anxiety, depression, anger, academic and other school-related struggles, emotional struggles, trauma, eating disorders, self-harm (cutting), grief, executive functioning difficulties and self-esteem issues. As we address and manage these conditions we find ourselves, often times, needing help to do so.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
