I see clients ages 12-80+, who may be dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, family problems, life stage issues, chronic illness, or grief. As we explore your situation, we will learn more about the current problem, and how it is similar to or different from experiences you have had in the past. Your usual ways of solving problems may not be working now. As we reflect on your characteristic responses to people and situations, we will consider changes you can make that will help you get more of what you are looking for in your life.

My clinical specialties include working with adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, has difficulties managing work/life balance, suffering from grief and loss, as well as women's issues and phase of life problems.
Entering an intimate space with yourself is not an easy task. But with the help of someone you trust, it makes the journey a bit easier to embrace. It is my belief that my job as a therapist is to help my clients connect the dots within their lives to enhance their mental health. This is done by unpacking, exploring and examining roadblocks from our past that are preventing us from being present in the present. This type of awareness helps to foster continual growth & grants access to understanding the story behind our behaviors.

We understand your present has been shattered by this loss.
You didn't image a future without them. You thought that person would be in your corner forever. That person could have been a spouse, a best friend, or even your own parents. The pain of this new realization has became a hurricane in your mind. It shattered the hopes and dreams you once had. Leaving behind the remains of your broken heart. Now your memories center on the broken promises, growing mistrust, and all the red flags you ignored. You're struggling to find closure and a new sense of self. If only love and trust came with a manual.

I have over 11 years of experience working with adults, couples, and teens with different diagnosis such as anxiety, depression, motherhood, parenting, grief, childhood trauma, ADHD, college/career stress, bipolar disorder, etc.
My approach to life is eclectic. We can only control the NOW. We can plan for the future and learn to deal with the past. I help my clients (teens, parents (girlmomhere), adults & couples) learn to accept/like or love their current life. No one said life would be easy, but as long as we are breathing, we can learn how to make the best of it. I have an art background, so I use horticultural therapy (plants) and art projects with clients. I also educate clients on fitness and nutrition. I am a problem solver, so we will figure things out together. What, when, why and how?! We can dig into the past, work on now or plan for the future.

My personal life experiences including loss of parents, living as a single adult, a later in life marriage, and becoming a stepparent, have convinced me that life offers many unique opportunities.
I see psychotherapy as a collaborative process. From this perspective, I have developed an individualized approach in which the relationship provides a safe place where feelings and behavior can be explored. Often, current struggles have developed over time so that connections can be made to past experiences. With this understanding a person can begin to make changes which lead to greater satisfaction and happiness. I bring a solid eclectic knowledge base to the process, drawing on individual dynamics, relationship dynamics, and an understanding of human development throughout the life cycle.
I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents (including their families).

I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ teens and adults, trauma processing, depression, anxiety, grief, DID, PTSD, and with relationship and family issues.
A typical session with me varies depending on the person and their needs. I enjoy integrating previous conversations and current happenings to make sure the client addresses what they need to, and what they feel comfortable with that day. I plan to meet you where you are and go by your agenda. I prefer to use the first appointment to build rapport and trust. I like to set goals during the second session to get an idea of what it is you are looking for in therapy. These goals can always evolve or change as we move through therapy as needed. You are the expert on your experience, I am here to hold the tools and help you build!

I have worked with and assisted a wide range from children who experienced trauma to adults who are experiencing relationship difficulties and those addressing barriers that prevent reaching their life goals.
I work with individuals 18 years of age and older, who are primarily dealing with issues related to depression, anxiety, grief, life transition, trauma, college adjustment, domestic violence, and relationship problems.
I strive to help clients better understand and treat thoughts, emotions and behaviors which negatively affect their overall functioning. In order to achieve this, I primarily use a Person-Centered clinical approach, which means that through empathy and non-judgment, a person is able to discover more about him/herself and find solutions that will allow the person to move forward. When it is a good fit for the client and with certain mental health issues, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which relies more on techniques and reinforcement activities.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
