I have 17 years of experience working successfully with adolescent, adults, individuals and families where everyone is treated with human dignity and respect.
Under the best of circumstances life is not easy. Sometimes we face challenges in our lives and just need someone to listen, care about, and guide us. There's always hope for change and if you are willing to put in the work, there is someone willing to help and that someone is me. Having the courage to take the pathway of change is the first step. Together lets work to make a difference.

Lately, LIFE Sucks! You're Stuck… reliving the painful experiences over and over in your mind. Your body betrays you. Your emotions run out of control. Anger, sadness, anxiety, all give you whiplash – they come out of nowhere. It’s a constant struggle to get out of bed most days. Every day is full of triggers that can send you running in tears. You’re beginning to lose hope. You don’t understand why you’re not over "IT" already. It feels like you’ll never climb out of this hole. You thought you’d be further along at this point in your life. You’ve started avoiding friends and family. It’s too much effort to hold up a fake smile.

You are looking for space. Space to feel. Space to think. Space to question. And yet it seems like every inch of space you have is given to people around you, your family, your job, your faith and there is no space left. And you are tired, burnt out and grasping for something, but you are not even sure what that might be. You have tried the discipline, the goal setting, the "fake it til you make it," the busyness, the books, the podcasts, the rigidity, the perfection, the formulas, the positivity, and yet you still feel stuck and without hope. Is this really what life is going to be like forever? No! It doesn't have to be like this.

Feeling disconnected, like you’re lost in the fog, unsure where you are headed. It feels like something big’s missing, but you can't put your finger on it. Where is my clarity? What is my purpose? Where’s my peace? Daily grind, old wounds, personal emotional and mental battles. They’re weighing you down. Life’s got you drained. Its too much. You’re spinning around in circles, looking for guidance, but don’t know where to turn. You don’t need someone just spitting solutions at you; you’re after something deeper, something much greater. A true way to reconnect with your core on a new evolved spiritual level.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
