*Now accepting new clients.* This practice has been developed to help adults that have experienced some form of trauma, life changing event, or adjustment concern. These experiences don't have to be recent; you just want to address them now to free your mind from the thoughts. Anxiety, depression, and trauma therapy is led through multiple therapy types depending on the client. Through a client/provider collaborative relationship we can choose the best practices to address your concerns in the most time-sensitive way possible. My clients are looking to move past the thoughts they feel have been "hounding" them or holding them back.

By integrating cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, and EMDR, I create a supportive environment where clients feel valued and understood.
In my practice, I typically work with clients who are facing significant challenges related to trauma, depression, or anxiety. I also focus on prenatal and postnatal mothers dealing with the unique transitions and stressors of motherhood. My goal is to provide clients with effective coping strategies, deeper emotional understanding, and resilience. I incorporate both traditional talk therapy and EMDR. By integrating these approaches, we aim to reduce trauma symptoms, improve mood, manage anxiety, and enhance overall well-being.

I utilize eclectic strategies from various approaches such as but not limited to cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, and attachment.
As a Latina and child of immigrant parents, I strive to provide a safe space for clients of all backgrounds and experiences. I am here to offer acceptance and support while helping clients navigate and cope with life’s challenges. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy and I find it important to explore specific strategies and tools that work for clients and their goals. I have experience working in community behavioral health and have extensive knowledge of various mental health needs.

You won't hear "It's going to be okay, I know how you feel, you will get over it" when you come to me. I understand that the hour you pay for is your hour and you will get the chance to say whatever it is that you want to say guilt-free. Saying things out loud to a trained listener will help you understand your world view in a different way. In turn, you will develop insight and coping skills.

We all want to be healthier versions of ourselves and improve our overall wellbeing. Most of the time we tend to concentrate only on focusing on our physical health. While this is important it's not the only component of well-being we should be improving. To achieve lasting health we need to understand the importance of the body, mind and soul and how they work together to build our overall wellbeing. A healthy body keeps you well and active, a healthy mind keeps you focused and engaged, a healthy soul keeps you fulfilled and content.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
