I am here to walk the journey alongside you. Life presents many challenges and adapting to a new "normal" is hard and perception can be glum. It feels like your sense of direction is confusing and uncertain. Relationships have lost their meaning, abundance and joy feel unattainable, and support stands at too far a distance for you to feel grounded in love and security.

First and foremost, I commend you for taking the most difficult step in therapy- seeing its value and starting the process. The process can be uncomfortable, and I am here to help you make the process as easy as possible. Right from the beginning, it is going to be important to establish a good relationship in which you feel comfortable opening up and allowing me to get to know you. I do this mainly by asking questions, listening, and putting much care into understanding who you are and what you are saying.

Many of us struggle with difficulties in relationships, grief, and emotional or physical pain. We often see these as obstacles to healing with a hopeless outlook of change. We need answers, reasons, and certainty to soothe our longings or access "progress." So often this shrouds our ability to slow down and look inward. My aim is to empower you to navigate these complexities with courage and resilience. Through a holistic approach that addresses both emotional and physical patterns formed throughout a lifetime of relationships and experiences, you can learn to honor your story the way no one else can. Come as you are.

I have studied and trained extensively in Psychoanalytic models of psychotherapy including Self-Psychology, Jungian Psychology and Attachment-Based Psychotherapy.
In a word, my approach to therapy is relational. I am at my best when I am centered, curious and genuinely engaged in my client's experience... exploring, nuancing and understanding their unique perspective and the struggles they are facing. I believe in the importance of finding the right "fit" between client and therapist and it is for that reason that I strive to be authentic and fully engaged in every session. My training, areas of specialization and personal style are well suited for those who might be seeking to go deeper in their understanding of themselves and their relationships.

I tailor my approach to each client’s individual needs, using Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Attachment-Based Psychotherapy as foundational modalities.
To say that change is difficult is an understatement. Sudden changes in life can leave us reeling with losses, or struggling to cope. It can feel painful to approach change due to barriers such as shame, guilt, resentment, and fear. In the counseling relationship, I strive to create an environment of compassion and trust, in which clients can work through these difficult emotions while knowing they are supported and heard. My role is to walk alongside the client, centering their unique journey, while helping empower them to achieve their goals. Please go to our website to fill out our Google Form if you want to schedule an appt!

I offer compassionate, incarnational, attachment-based, trauma-informed care, with training and experience in a broad range of interventions tailored to the holistic needs of each client (mind/body/spirit/relationships); whether seeking practical solutions for well-defined issues or deep explorations of the inner life (see modalities below).
Inasmuch as we all face suffering in various forms throughout our lives, the good news is that there is hope for healing, and we don't have to go it alone. If you are experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, marital, relationship, and/or parenting issues, the effects of trauma, loneliness, addictive/compulsive behaviors, are struggling with a life transition or with pastoral/leadership challenges, are desiring support in your spiritual journey, or perhaps are simply unsure of where to turn, I would be grateful for the opportunity to journey with you toward the abundant life you were created for in Christ (Jn 10:10).

All of my vocational career has been spent caring for the family system from kids and youth to couples and parents. My passion is to support couples to become the healthiest version of themselves, help teens navigate their world that is ever evolving, and provide support to emerging adults as they grow in their independence. My mission is to create a safe, calm, inclusive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic space. As an embodied listener, I am honored to hold others’ stories in confidence and help uncover their deeply held understanding and expertise of their lives from a strengths-based perspective. I am exceptionally awed at the incremental freedom that comes from engaging stories of harm, trauma, and abuse. The beauty freedom produces led me to seek certification in narrative-focused trauma therapy.

If you are feeling stuck in the past, lost, hopeless, and disconnected from yourself and the life you want, it can feel impossible to get "unstuck". Past traumas and current external systems can make it feel like things will never get better. Oftentimes, you might wonder if you even deserve to feel better. It's important in these moments to notice the parts of you that do want to feel better, to heal, and to move towards your ideal life - whatever that may look like.

Anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, depression, judgement from others, and grief can create barriers in our minds and hearts, but it doesn't have to remain that way. My clients want to recover their strengths, feel more joy, and face their life situations with more confidence. We all want to feel empowered to pursue the life they really want, so we address those issues together. I enjoy working with pre-teens and up through seniors from all cultures, traditions, backgrounds, and orientations.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
