I work with families after they have used every available community resource and their child (age 11 to 26) is still struggling due to cognitive, social, emotional, behavioral or psychiatric issues. My training as a School Psychologist has prepared me to evaluate the complex interaction of these issues. I work with the family and treating professionals to find the best RESIDENTIAL PLACEMENT for the child. I visit over 80 schools and programs per year, I have personally and professionally evaluated each placement to assess the specific therapeutic and educational supports they provide. I follow my clients for at least one year.

I approach my patients in a non-judgmental way with deep empathy and acceptance. My 40 years as a restructuring lawyer gives him the unique life experience to help my patients identify the problems that brought them into therapy, and then engage with them in a journey to find the individual strengths they already possess to move past the problem and forward with their lives. Many patients come into therapy believing that they are the problem that is preventing them from living a happy and fulfilling life. I seek to separate the person from the problem and explore the ways in which the problem is acting as a barrier.

Hi there! Good for you for looking for a therapist :) I encourage you to do consultations or sessions with multiple therapists. You'll quickly see that we're vastly different. Remember grade school teachers? They could make or break a class, and maybe there were only a few you really connected with. Also true for therapy! So book at least a few consults and sessions; the search itself can be therapeutic. Two major things to look for are emotional safety ("Can share things without feeling judged?") and resonance ("Do they get me?"). Most importantly, practice trusting your intuition.

Living with an unresolved or unprocessed trauma, whether it be physical, sexual, emotional, or even relational, can make life seem heavy. Yet, there's hope to transform yourself from a victim to a survivor. Our therapeutic journey will explore the interweaves between negative/deviant compulsive behaviors, unhealthy attachments, as well as general life areas where you find yourself highly anxious or stuck. The goal is to ultimately be able to look yourself in the mirror, smile and say, "I'm OK." You won't be alone in this journey to a healthier more positive life. I will be supporting you as you get to a more satisfying place.

Starting therapy is hard and it is important to find someone you trust and feel comfortable with. I have extensive experience in working with mental health concerns related to these areas, and more, and I integrate a variety of approaches and techniques into my work as a means of promoting growth and change. Therapy might not be a place for quick fixes but it can lead to lasting change. I offer free phone consultations to talk and see if we might work well together.

The urge to not just exist, but to thrive is universally one of the toughest challenges that one can learn to navigate. It can be even harder when you may not feel equipped with the tools to prepare yourself for this massive endeavor. You may feel the need to mask, or hide your truest self in order to ‘get by’ and make things easier on yourself and others around you. I try to tell clients that they deserve to allow themselves to be the truest version of yourself, no matter what that may look like or what society may think. I am here to help guide you through the veil of uncertainty so that I can help you be your most authentic self.

Each of us has a unique combination of innate strengths and, yes, weaknesses. Psychotherapy - or counseling -- is a process of regaining and leveraging our strengths, shoring up deficiencies and effectively managing the challenges in our lives. Our ability to learn is another important gift we all possess. Psychotherapy allows the client to either learn, re-learn or even unlearn thoughts and behaviors which, in turn, leads to emotional well-being. Our emotions are important signals, but they need not become emergencies themselves.

I’m grateful to have this opportunity to connect with you. The therapeutic process is a sacred journey. Here we can share in a safe, non-judgmental place. If we have suffered addiction, anxiety, depression or trauma we can uncover the aspects of ourselves that need healing. The quality of our lives is directly connected to the quality of our relationships - with ourselves and with others. When our relationships are suffering, everything is impacted. For that reason, in our therapy sessions we explore whatever is unfolding in your relationships and we discover how to bring awareness and skill to these crucial connections.
