Nicole is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with a Master’s Degree from Case Western Reserve University. Working with clients aged 6 to 40 years, her experience includes such areas as ADD/ADHD, Adoption, Anxiety, Athletes, Body Image Issues, Chronic Mental Illness, Depression, Mood Disorders, Self-Esteem/Self-Worth and Trauma/PTSD. She is passionate about and specializes in treating teenagers with eating disorders.

Counseling is my calling. I feel honored to play a role in assisting people to overcome obstacles and to become the person that they always felt was possible. I am hear to guide people on their journey of self discovery while also providing the skills and tools necessary to overcome what ever challenges life has brought their way. I truly love what I do and provide caring acceptance and support to my clients. I am proud to say that my biggest referral base is former clients and I could not ask for a biggest compliment. I am a member of our Counseling Associates Team at Counseling Works and a Masters candidate from Governors State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I works with individuals ages 14+, specializing in ADD/ADHD, Life Changes/Adjustments, Self-Esteem/Self Worth, Anxiety, Depression, Relationship Issues, and Stress Management. Meet Michaela, a Master’s student from Bradley University who loves learning and educating herself to provide the best possible treatment to every individual and relationship that comes into her care. She specializes in sexual difficulties, relationship issues, pre/peri postnatal issues, divorce, LGBTQ+ issues, men’s issues, and women’s issues. She values building a strong therapeutic alliance with individuals, couples, and families of any age. Michaela sees her clients as the experts in their own lives. Her therapeutic approach is humanistic and based in narrative therapy.

My theory of choice is Adlerian theory which is a holistic approach to psychology that emphasizes the importance of overcoming feels of inferiority and gaining a sense of belonging in order to achieve success and happiness. One thing that I really enjoy about Adlerian theory is that it is integrative and can be adapted for specific needs of the individual. It emphasizes techniques that promote growth and resilience and some of the techniques used in this type of therapy include: Providing encouragement, creating expectations, examining the purposes for behavior, examining memories, and an establishment of goals.

By gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationships, learning life-changing skills, discovering unique strengths, and collaborating with a therapist, we can reduce challenging symptoms and change negative repeating patterns. My background is primarily in the residential setting working with adults and geriatrics affected by dementia, severe mental illness, and comorbid disease & disorders. I currently work with individuals of all ages to assist in their unique processes of overcoming hardship and obtaining fulfillment in their lives.

Martin Therapy Group has been helping kids, teens, young adults, adults, couples, and families find the support and help they need for over 15 years. We have two locations, in Palos Heights and Frankfort. Our therapists are compassionate and experienced, with training in areas such as Theraplay, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Clinical Hypnosis for smoking cessation, weight management, and pain issues, and the science-based Gottman Method for couples therapy. We work with the full life span from age 3 and up. Some of our therapists have previously worked in local schools as school counselors and social workers.
