You or your child can live a full, happy life, move past any challenges and thrive in your daily functioning and relationships.
Does life sometimes feel overwhelming? Do you or your child have a difficult time engaging in or completing everyday tasks? Does it seem like nobody understands what you’re going through? Sometimes children or adults experience situations in their life, past or present which can have a significant impact on their life, overall daily functioning and relationships. These situations can leave them feeling sad, angry, withdrawn, shameful, unmotivated or a variety of other emotions. These feelings and behaviors can be confusing for anyone and that is where therapy can help.

Typically, I have worked with clients who are 18 and up, dealing with difficult life transitions, “new normal” because of chronic illnesses, unhealthy relationships that can cause depression, anxiety, and stress.
My name is Teena Mabry, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) serving clients statewide in Illinois via telehealth. I have worked with all populations, but my focus is working with adults (18 & up). I specialize in depression, anxiety, stress management/burnout, work trauma, relationship issues and clients dealing with chronic illnesses.

By engaging in a supportive, coaching relationship, my clients/ patients have acquired successful social skills in all relationships, a calm self-liking, and effective self-directedness to make needed changes.
"What is the impact of my personality on my self, my significant other, and my family/work relationships?" By answering this questions, clients/patients identify and eventually change self-defeating habits, beliefs, and patterns caused by trauma, substance abuse/addiction, and chronic stress. Signs of negative impact include anger, low mood, multiple marriages, work problems, and eventually job loss.

I've enjoyed meeting people of different ages, backgrounds, and life experiences.
Developing a supportive, understanding, and enriching relationship with those I've worked with over the past 13 years has given me the privilege and ability to help clients reach their goals for therapy. I work to nurture, assist, and motivate people to be their happiest selves. The adults, teens, children and families I see are facing a variety of challenges related to anxiety, depression, difficulties at school or work, divorce, grief and loss, family stress, and other life events.

Even though life presents new challenges, there are tools to face them in a healthy and positive way which can be remarkably simple and effective.
I believe that a journey of self-discovery and personal growth empowers individuals to develop self-love, self-worth, and deeper meaning in their lives. I encourage honesty, acceptance, and forgiveness in order to heal and release inner struggles. I create a trusting environment integrating a collaborative approach to exploring issues and finding solutions.

When you know you are ready, I will welcome the opportunity to work with you on your goals in an atmosphere of respect and support. Whether for depression/anxiety, managing stress, coping with loss or trauma, or becoming a more effective worker, partner or parent, you will grow in understanding yourself and meeting your needs.

I also served in the military and after sustaining a serious injury, left the service on a mission to help society one life at a time.
My outlook on life is that we are all on a journey. Some people move faster than others. Some need a helping hand along the way; but we can all arrive to where we are going, where we want to be…every single one of us. I am here to help motivate when you lack motivation. I am here to listen when you feel unheard. I am here to push when you feel weak, or pull when you don’t feel strong enough. I’m also here to sit with you when you aren’t ready or feel unable to make a decision. I am here at your pace.

Therapy is a brave step towards improving overall wellness. Individuals, couples, and families that are interested in working to increase their well being should read on. If your life has become overwhelming, your relationships difficult to manage, or if you are experiencing less satisfaction at work or home, then therapy may be a positive step to alleviate your current difficulties. Those who want to reduce the pain and frustration associated with depression, anxiety, adjustment to change, self doubt, and anger are appropriate candidates for psychotherapy. Therapy has the potential to improve your quality of life personally and within important relationships.

Change doesn't happen in the counseling office, it happens in real life.
Do you ever feel sad or alone and can't figure out why? Or perhaps something did happen, and you're having a tough time accepting and moving forward. Do you get easily frustrated, annoyed, or angry? Are you finding that while in your younger days you had lots of friends, but are now wondering where everyone has gone? I work with busy adults who are struggling with these types of issues, and want to talk to someone neutral to look within themselves to find the strength and tools to feel better and live happier.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
