Since I was a young child, I’ve been fascinated by experiences that evoke deep human emotions. I was naturally drawn to music, art and stories of individual expression and the impact that we have on each other. As a therapist, I strive to understand clients' unique experiences and to provide a safe space for empathy and validation. While my clients set their own goals, I believe the therapeutic relationship is a cornerstone of collaborative change and growth. I value honesty, integrity and acceptance of everyone in their struggles. Through dedicated work, courage and even humor, I believe everyone can heal and feel better.

As a counselor I am committed to creating a healthy, working relationship with my clients that promotes growth and identity development within an individual as well as the family. I have had extensive training in working with individuals and families who have exceptionalities outside the normative view of the human condition. This can range anywhere from gifted individuals to people with physical disabilities. I provide a very proactive, creative, and exploratory approach for my clients to seek out who they truly are and how I can help them to live a life that is a good fit for them.

It's hard not to experience anxiety and overwhelm in today's world, but that doesn't mean you have to live with it. You can live free from the debilitating fear and worry, or other emotions that weigh you down. It's all about learning to move with and through the emotions. Anyone who feels stuck, burdened, or stifled by their emotions deserves freedom from the stress placed on the mind and body.

I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals who are looking to make positive changes in their self-esteem, relationships, and effectiveness in the world. I look to help them understand the context in which their unhealthy behavior patterns emerged, and then use this understanding to make practical, lasting improvements. I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client based on their personality, needs, and goals. In my 30 years of practicing, I have seen the life-changing work that can be done by a well-matched therapist and client.

Do you feel ashamed of your "imperfections"? Do you feel overwhelmed by thoughts and behaviors you just can't seem to change? Do you find that controlling yourself, your body, food, or others' perceptions of you feels more and more out of control? Your struggle is understandable given the appearance-focused and uncertain world we live in. However, if you're curious whether freedom is possible, it absolutely is. In therapy, you and I can explore your relationships with food, body, and yourself to learn what no longer serves you... and find out what does.

In our busy, fast paced society, we often can lose sight of who we are, what makes us happy, and what our values are. We sometimes resort to unhealthy coping strategies. I can help you identify your issues, needs, strengths, and become aware of what goals you have for yourself. I will help you develop a path to achieve them. I will also help you learn to speak your truth and become a strong advocate for yourself. I will help you to learn healthy coping strategies.

I work with adolescents, adults, and older children, helping them to clarify values, work past crises, and develop skills to navigate day to day challenges. My approach is primarily social constructivist, while still drawing from psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral theories. In my work I draw on my experience as a mother of three teenagers. I also work with parents to help them with strategies when struggling with their children and teens.

Do you ever feel like you don't matter. That you aren't enough? Do these thoughts feel overwhelming and out of control? If this is you, know that you are not alone. Living in a society that strives for "perfection" makes it difficult to find acceptance within ourselves. As a therapist, I want to help you recognize your inner worth. My goal is to help each client identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns that lead to problematic behaviors, non-judgmentally process through emotions, and ultimately help to create a life that is aligned with their values.
