Kristin Camorlinga, LCPC, received her Masters in Counseling from Loyola University in 2012. She specializes in working with children, adolescents and their families and has been doing so in different capacities since 1995. She has counseled bilingually in many settings including three schools, a domestic abuse shelter, two non-for-profits and two community public health agencies. She is passionate about helping people overcome mental health difficulties so they can reach their greatest potential and live their best life.

I focus on creating a therapeutic environment where you feel empowered to recognize direction for change and overcome barriers to achieve personal fulfillment. We will utilize a cognitive and solution focused approach to work through each situation and uncover the best strategy to help you move forward to achieve your goals. Together we will establish presenting problems, gain insight, uncover coping skills that are beneficial, identify the tools to strive for change, and understand what is needed to lead a fulfilling life.

I have experience and knowledge working with individuals who live with; depression, anxiety, bi-polar, personality disorders, schizophrenia, PTSD, substance abuse disorder, suicide and self-harm, LGBTQ+, and grief. I have an education in evidence-based therapies, such as but not limited to: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, harm-reduction, and SMART recovery. Newly (2024) added to my services, is animal assisted therapy. I acknowledge the uncertainty that comes with starting therapy, you’re not alone. Hello and Welcome - My journey into counseling began with a passion for helping others navigate life's challenges and find fulfillment. I opened my practice in 2014 after meeting and working with Brene Brown’s team in San Antonio, Texas. If her work resonates with you our office is named after the “Man in the Arena Quote” - Arena Counseling LLC. With close to 20 years of experience. I've had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, and families facing various issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts, and trauma. My approach to counseling is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and empowerment.

Life isn't always in our control (and no, I'm not a fan of that either). In therapy, we can learn to manage the things within our control - so that we are better equipped to contend with life’s inevitable ups and downs. Whether you're experiencing a big transition, stress from everyday life, a personal loss, or chronic issues - we can work together to make things easier. I have experience working with individuals with a variety of concerns & mental/physical health issues. I strive to make everyone - of any body shape/size, sexuality, gender, race, religion, or disability - comfortable in the therapy room (and in their own skins).

I have been working in the field for over 30 years in a variety of settings including inpatient, partial programs and outpatient private practice. I work with adolescents and adults in individual, marital, family and group counseling. My husband and I started our own group practice in 2004. I work primarily with individuals who are desiring freedom from trauma: past and present; personal and collective. I lead and facilitated trauma-focused therapy story groups, and consultation story groups for individuals with advanced training in narrative story engagement. I also do intensive trainings in Narrative Story work.

My job, as I see it, is not to fix you, but to help you fix yourself. To do that, I help you find the tools you already have and remind you that - on some deep level - you already know how to use them. My approach is cognitive, because I believe the way we think about our lives helps create them.

My therapeutic approach is drawn from Neurofeedback, which involves recording brainwaves and providing instant feedback to the individual through visual or auditory cues. This feedback helps the brain learn to self-regulate, promoting more balanced and efficient functioning. Neurofeedback therapy has shown success in addressing a variety of conditions, including but not limited to: ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Sleep disorders, TBI.

Reaching out for help in our most vulnerable moments can be overwhelming and scary. Sometimes our self talk convinces us that we should figure it out on our own, or that our problems aren’t as bad as they could be - and we find ourselves hesitant to make that next step. I will meet your bravery and vulnerability with compassion, curiosity, feeling, and a bit of humor. I want to center what matters to you, develop skills and abilities, and help you rediscover a fullness in being alive and in your body. My areas of experience include working with individuals of the LBGTQ+, and navigating barriers to receiving gender affirming care.
