In order to keep you and our therapeutic relationship at the forefront of treatment, I utilize a person-centered modality, integrating psychodynamics, behavioral modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR.
I am currently accepting clients for in-person and telehealth! As a queer, Filipino-American, I have special interest and experience working with BIPOC, First-Generation Americans, and LGBTQIA+ living with trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship distress, or difficult life transitions. It takes great strength and vulnerability to ask for help and to let someone in on our journey when we’re not sure they’ll understand us. I value the importance of the relationship between therapist and client. Your experiences deserve to be honored with care, empathy, and understanding and YOU deserve to feel heard, safe, and accepted.

Our sexuality is at the core of who we are as humans, and where we came from – it is our life force. It’s also at the core of our own identity. So many of us are searching for who we truly are. We’re so encapsulated in who we should be being for others, that we end up losing ourselves. This shows up most frequently in intimate relationships. Our desire for unconditional love from another supersedes our need for physical connection. Emotion trumps sexuality. And what goes on within our mind shuts down the abilities of our body. Are you feeling lost in your relationship? Do you desire more sexually?

Although I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, my primary goal is to establish a positive therapeutic relationship with clients that allows them to feel safe and supported in our work together.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked with children, adolescents, and families for over 15 years. I have extensive experience working with a variety of emotional and behavioral concerns (i.e., adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, mood problems, low self-esteem, peer issues, identity development, parent-child conflicts, attention problems, oppositional behaviors, and behavior management). I also work with young adults, focusing on stress management, life transitions, difficulties with romantic and peer relationships, family conflict, and struggles with identity that often occur in early adulthood.

The clients who are the best fit for my clinical approach tend to be people who want to build a stronger sense of self, learn how to center their own needs and set boundaries, and are open to inner child healing. The clients I work with want to change their relationship with themselves to be more compassionate and nurturing. They are recovering people pleasers, people who want to learn how to be more assertive, often have unresolved trauma, and are ready to break cycles in order to establish new patterns. They seek support from me to discuss dating, relationships, sex, childhood traumas, identity, and healing from abuse and neglect.

I foster a nurturing therapeutic relationship with clients and use emotion focused and other frameworks to transform old, stuck feelings to more adaptive ones.
You may have suffered greatly internally and contemplated making a change. When the time comes, the risk to remain tight in a bud can be more painful than the risk it takes to blossom. If you are ready to improve your self-esteem, or seek healing from trauma, or overcome a depressive episode, or rebuild healthy relationships, I am here to guide and walk with you in your journal of growth and transformation. As a clinical and research psychologist and former assistant professor, I actively incorporate 14 years of clinical experience and research evidence working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples in my work with clients.

I work with a broad range of couples, families, and individuals. I am especially interested in grief & loss, trauma, and medical family therapy. I want to create an environment where my clients feel safe enough to hold space for the big emotions. I remember the exact moment I first felt heard and understood in therapy, and it was one of the most healing experiences I have ever had. It felt like I could take a breath after holding it for so long. I feel so grateful to be on the other side and give others that monumental moment.

Welcome, folks. I'm a licensed clinical professional counselor, trained dance/movement therapist, and empowerment coach. I specialize in the treatment and training of trauma work. Over the past eleven years, I've worked with diverse populations in a number of different settings including residential rehabilitation, Cook County Jail, and community mental health. As a therapist who is grateful for the therapy I've received, I can confidently say I get it from both sides. Therapy is a vulnerable process. That's why I pride myself on providing a nonjudgmental, compassionate, and authentic space that is tailored to the individual.

I see my clients as unique individuals. I acknowledge that behind every concern is a person who has feelings, values, and passion. Being able to help you see yourself clearly, become more self-aware, articulate your goals, make sense of your feelings, and highlight healthy boundaries and expectations is my joy. I also believes there can be healing and restoration through the power of grace towards others and oneself. My wish is to see you walk out of the room feeling heard, seen, empowered, transformed, and equipped with tools to respond to whatever challenges you are facing.

It would be ideal for us to be motivated to improve our lives when things are going well. More often than not, we only make changes to our lives during times of darkness. In our work together, we can focus on finding the beauty, joy, and peace in your life. We can step into the darkness together with curiosity.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
