I am an integrative mental health provider offering Trauma/Tension Releasing Exercises (TRE), Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF), and trauma informed somatic therapy. My approach embraces the multidimensionality of being in a body (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual). You will learn all about your nervous system responses and how to re-pattern your brain, shifting from a lens of threat to safety. You will also learn how to heal with food and will gain potent tools that will relax your body on a cellular level. Additionally you will be connected to some of the most skilled body workers and physicians in Chicago.

I believe that every individual is unique, and that starting therapy can be difficult no matter your age. A person’s mental health is very important, and while it can be burdensome to start the process of improving it, reaching out for support is an important first step. I want to make the process of finding a therapist that works for you easy and painless. Even if I end up not being the right fit, I will help to find someone who I believe will work well with you and your needs.

Relationship issues can hijack your life. Dysfunctional romantic and family relationships, demanding bosses, inappropriate coworkers, weird friends, or complicated roommates can all be the kinds of relationships that isolate us; affect our sleep, appetites, and focus; and stir up BIG feelings. Breaking up, even if it's the right thing to do, can turn our lives upside down while we feel pressure on us to “just move on already,” when we are grieving. Sometimes we are having a hard time grieving loved ones who have died. Difficult relationships can also cause collateral damage to your relationship with yourself.

Taking the step to begin (or revisit) therapy can be stressful and nerve-wracking. It often requires bravery: a willingness to go within to explore one’s values as well as one’s struggles. However, it can be the key to unlock tools to live a more meaningful, authentic, and happy life. Through therapy, we will work together for you to feel your best and cope with the ups, downs, and everything in between that life presents. My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, family conflict, infertility, perinatal support, and women’s health issues.

I help individuals, couples, families, and executives improve their relationships to others and themselves. I combine insight, mindfulness, and experiential models of therapy to increase awareness of the process and patterns that keep people stuck and identify and implement new ways of being with themselves and others. I actively guide clients through different ways of thinking and communicating in session and will often assign “homework” to deepen this work outside of session. Trained at Northwestern University, I am an integrative and systemic therapist who pulls from a number of different evidence-based models of therapy.

I work with individuals who feel anxious, struggle with building relationships, have difficulties coping with becoming a new parent, or who are looking to heal from a recent or past trauma. In therapy, you can build coping skills and get practical help. Difficult experiences in your past or mental health struggles in the present don't need to dictate your future. You can heal from trauma, feel less anxious and depressed, build self-esteem, improve your relationships and feel more confident as a parent. Therapy can build hope and support tangible progress.

Loss can be a shattering experience. Whether it's the death of a beloved partner, family member, friend, or even a major medical diagnosis, relationship breakup, or job loss, you know your life will never be the same. You're not even sure how to pick up the pieces, let alone how to rebuild your life. Yet, much like kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, therapy can offer you a place to rebuild your shattered spirit in a transformational way. Working together, I aim to empower you to rebuild your life in line with what matters most to you using your own unique strengths, talents, and life experiences.

I firmly believe that the only way to overcome challenges is to face them. Much like navigating through quicksand, struggling only pulls you deeper; when you pause and find stillness, you begin to rise. As a psychologist, I aim to create a space of genuine warmth and sincerity, where together we can address and tackle the areas causing you distress, allowing you to find your buoyancy among life's struggles. In my practice, I bring a personalized approach, drawing from my roles as a Clinical Psychologist, Director of Testing, and a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

Going to therapy is like taking a trip. You bring your baggage filled with memories, patterns built up over the years, and all the good things about you, and set off on your journey. You may feel excited, apprehensive, or unsure if you want a change - but you breathe in and take the next step anyway. You hire a tour guide to help unpack your bags, figure out what's useful, and find the path to get to where you're going.

Welcome to therapy! I work from a place of common humanity: everyone has self-defeating behavior, and everyone needs help sometimes. Therapy can help you break free from unhelpful cycles such as avoidance, panic, overthinking, and people-pleasing. It sounds paradoxical, but "fighting" these cycles often creates more pain. Therapy can help you accept and make sense of your struggles, reduce the pain associated with them, and use them as tools for growth. I enjoy helping clients with anxiety, depression, self-doubt, unhealthy relationships, ambivalence about change, life transitions, and mood swings.

I am a Licensed Counselor with 13 years of diverse clinical experience. I work primarily with women experiencing relationship difficulties, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. You may be struggling to communicate with a significant other or looking for a fulfilling relationship. You may be seeking guidance while in a polyamorous / non-monogamous relationship. You may be in the midst of a life transition, feeling lost and overwhelmed, needing compassionate support and direction. Sadness and worry are normal reactions to these struggles, but they don't have to define your reality.

James Lentini is a Licensed Social Worker in Illinois. He has an MSW in Social Work and a Certificate in Drug and Addiction Studies. Life is a beautiful yet difficult journey. Each of us experiences and manages life's ups and downs in a variety of ways. Our coping skills develop over time and usually include activities that make us feel better and activities that make us feel worse. All of these behaviors have been developed because they have been successful coping mechanisms at certain time periods in our lives, but we often outgrow these safety behaviors, and they often lead us into trouble.

I approach therapy believing that we need more than talk therapy to unlock our wellness and healing. We need to tune into our body! I use a combination of modalities to guide our work, namely tenets of somatic trauma healing and psychodynamic psychology. Together, we’ll work to deepen your understanding of self and the world around you by exploring your body as a shape, molded by a lifetime of your lived experiences. We’ll honor all parts of who you are, knowing that the "best" and "worst" versions of you both deserve dignity and care.

I am comfortable working with a wide range of issues, and working with me is best for clients who are interested in not only talking through their problems, but physically moving about them and getting a felt sense of everything that’s going on. As a dance movement therapist, I think the body can be a marvelous source for solutions and insights, when the movement is approached in a way that’s comfortable and safe. Talking is also an important part of the process, as we are whole mind/body systems, and we work best when both are accessible and well connected to each other. Resolving and integrating the past is part of the work.
