I have worked with many different presenting issues including adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, suicide risk, stress, loss, trauma, struggles with drugs and alcohol, family problems, child welfare, family problems, offenders, and relationship difficulties. I feel comfortable working with clients ranging in age from children to adults and feel especially well-equipped to work with clients facing discrimination and marginalization including members of various immigrant communities, LGBTQIA+ clientele, black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC).

Reaching out and asking for help is often a brave and difficult first step. There are many reasons why people seek out therapy. I work to create a safe and supportive environment for all of my clients, so that they may begin to explore and understand themselves, their feelings, and their way of relating to others. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and a strong therapeutic relationship enables change to happen. I tailor my approach to meet each of my client's unique needs.

When you are feeling depressed or overwhelmed, you may feel that you have few options. You may feel even worse if you are drinking more than usual or engaged in other compulsive behaviors. I will help you see that you have choices and that you can start acting and thinking in ways that make your vision of a satisfying life a reality. I am solution-focused and although I believe psychotherapy is a process, I am comfortable working with a short-term model as well as in a more ongoing way. I believe in being direct while remaining empathic.

I work with adults & teens on a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, navigating sexuality and identity, and more. We heal and grow when we are in community with others and when we are supported in finding balance. I have been grateful for the opportunity to support my clients in finding rest, joy, and connection in their lives as they navigate the world's stresses and uncertainties. I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s in social work in 2005 and from Dominican University with a Masters in Social Work in 2006. I am a skilled therapist with experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I utilize a variety of approaches including strength based, solution focused, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. I have experienced working with addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, and other behavioral challenges. I provide a relaxed atmosphere where individuals feel safe to express themselves fully.

I am Dr. Katherine Mejia a pre-licensed Spanish-speaking Latina psychologist committed to helping clients navigate challenging times while understanding the impact of culture and identity on mental health. Throughout my experience in the mental health field, I have gained a deep understanding of working with individuals from all walks of life and dealing with a myriad of concerns. In that time, what has become abundantly clear to me is no two people are alike, and no two experiences are ever the same, even If the diagnosis is.

I understand everyone’s therapy journey is unique and I strive to ensure all of my clients feel seen, heard, and understood. I believe by empowering and highlighting skills a client already has allows the foundation for new coping strategies to be built. He believes trauma affects us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. By establishing safety, remembering, and grieving, we are able to reconnect with our current lives. Our mental health has physical effects; Brendan focuses on the damage chronic stress has on the body as well as the mind. Our nervous system cannot absorb the impact of trauma alone. We find healing through our relationships and communities. Together, we find a path forward.

I am a Licenced Clinical Professional Counselor with experience working with in residential, outpatient, and community based settings. I trained at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in clinical counseling, specializing in trauma. I've worked with adults and adolescents from diverse backgrounds on a wide variety of presenting issues including: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, attachment, thought and mood dysregulation, sexual health, and identity development. My clinical style utilizes person-centered and CBT techniques with a strong focus on creating an open, nonjudgmental therapeutic space.

Life can be incredibly complex and overwhelming, full of twists and turns we often do not expect. As both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a human being, I have witnessed how receiving professional therapeutic support can guide individuals towards finding a sense of safety and comfort within themselves in a world of ever-shifting dynamics that can distract from or exacerbate the challenges we experience. My clients may be struggling with eating disorders, depression/anxiety, body image concerns, and substance misuse, in addition to difficulty managing stress, life transitions, or intimate/peer/familial relationship conflicts.

I have experience and highly value working with Queer (LGBTQIA+), Latinx/First-Generation, poor, BIPOC, and other marginalized folx from adolescence through adulthood. I have worked with survivors of complex and acute trauma, and with clients experiencing - among others - symptoms of anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, obsessive thoughts, relationship challenges, perfectionism, people pleasing, and isolation.

I am delighted to help clients with anxiety, depression, addictions, eating disorders, and relationship problems accomplish their treatment goals using CBT techniques. I work with adolescents and adults. My specialities include working with people experiencing life transitions, survivors of trauma, queer and trans people, people of color, and disabled folks. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink affirming, and sex positive. I also work with polyamourous and non-monogamous people, as well as those with other alternative relationship orientations. Additionally, I have experience working with folks with substance use concerns, adoptees, religious minorities, sex workers, and neurodivergent people.

Nicole has over 10 years of experience working with individuals in a variety of settings. Over the past 5 years, Nicole has built and is the owner and head Psychotherapist at Perspective Clinical Therapy PLLC., a private practice in the loop. Nicole practices from a person-centered, holistic approach, eluding significant value on the therapeutic relationship in order to initiate an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion. Nicole works with clients who have a readiness to change, coupled with an interest to find alternative methods, perspective, tools, and action, to ultimately cultivate the motivation necessary for change to occur.
