I am a therapist who tends to be more direct in sessions. I am an active participant in my sessions, which can be seen through challenging my clients, helping them learn new tools, and actively participating in the conversation through questions and feedback. I love to work with both couples and individuals. Whether you are going through a life transition, dealing with anxiety, job dissatisfaction, or relationship struggles, I work through a strength-based approach and hope to empower my clients to help them make a change in their lives.

A fundamental human need is to feel emotionally close to others. Difficulty connecting in a platonic or romantic way can leave one feeling sad, anxious, and lonely. Often, we retreat from attempted connection to avoid potential pain. Alternately, because we don't know any different or don't want to feel disconnected, we become involved with others who cause us more interpersonal stress. But isolating or engaging with harmful others can cause us to feel vulnerable, damaged, and upset with ourselves. This pattern often leads us to question if we are capable and deserving of joining and creating mutually beneficial relationships.

Many of us are not taught to prioritize mental health and end up unsure of what to do when faced with difficult feelings. Therapy does not need to be scary or intimidating. My style is warm and deeply collaborative. Together, we will set goals, continually make sure we're moving in the right direction, and maybe even have a laugh or two along the way. I am a lifelong learner. In therapy, I draw upon the latest neurobiology research to help you understand how what's going on in your brain and nervous system can affect your mood and behavior.

Life can be difficult, but I believe that we were built to do and overcome difficult things, even when the task of healing seems impossible. Your feelings are important, and you have the power to transform and heal within a safe space.

I pride myself on meeting my clients where they are to walk alongside them as they heal & create their best life. We all at times go through periods when processing, whether towards change or healing, becomes necessary. I hope to make that process a bit more comfortable, so that you are not alone, and also to help you move through your journey with integrity and intention. Many of my clients report feeling it to be easier to approach difficult topics due to us having a friendly relationship as a foundation. I believe that foundation is in part created due to our efforts in seeing and validating their own internal strengths.

I understand the healing process as one of self-determination through therapeutic empathy. Being curious while employing sensitive honesty makes me a good fit for people who are open to exploring deeper personal and interpersonal connections. The lens of attachment, psychodynamic theory, and existential thought within ecological and systemic perspectives help me appreciate the pressures that impact quality of life issues. I am interested in working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds who find themselves struggling in relationships, depression, anxiety, complex trauma, psychosis, and grief/loss.

I have been in private practice for over 20 years and have treated thousands of clients including individuals, families, children and adults. People often come in seeking relief from a range of struggles including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and family conflicts. Through my work with many families I began to also address issues of parenting and family dynamics as well as children and adolescents facing a variety of disorders, self-esteem issues, and acting out behaviors. Over the span of my career I have also treated substance abuse, bipolar, psychotic and personality disorders.

We all deserve to be happy and fulfilled in our relationships. However, healthy and meaningful relationships do not come without work. Whether it is with your intimate partner, friends, family or coworkers, the quality of our relationships has a direct impact on our mental health. I help individuals understand how their past experiences, sometimes traumatic, impact their present struggles related to anxiety, stress or depression, and often interfere with their ability to cultivate and maintain relationship satisfaction.

My journey into psychology was inspired by my own growth and pursuit of self actualization. Through the exploration of my own background as an Indian immigrant and the process of transitioning to life in America, I have to appreciate the unique perspective of integrative culture. My work has helped me understand culture as a rich tapestry that is unique for each individual and their story. I strive to help(give) clients a sense of empowerment to take charge of their narrative and journey. My goal is to understand and work with individuals based on their current state in life, with the intention of helping them at their own pace.

Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to knowing yourself. Seeking therapy is a brave and honorable act. Healing and growth come from inviting ourselves to listen to our mind and body so we are able to approach life with self awareness and acceptance. By creating a safe space where one can feel heard, understood and accepted, I use humor and warmth to help clients gain insight, self awareness and finding resiliency in life's challenges.
