A down-to-earth, irreverent straight shooter, I prefer therapy to be free of pretense and to be a partnership. While challlenges bring people to therapy, expect our time together to include humor and fun as well as exploration and effort. Together, we will focus on individual growth and resilience rather than diagnoses or one-size-fits-all treatment approaches. If you are feeling stuck and are ready for a new therapist with comprehensive and current approaches to treatment, we may be a good fit.

My primary goal is to make you feel seen, heard, and deeply understood. We will collaborate on how to dig into therapy and what approach works best for you. I help my clients tap into the resiliency they already have to figure out how they can support themselves and ask for support from others. You will learn to harness your existing strengths towards achieving your goals and lasting change. I help my clients give themselves permission to explore their identities and anxieties in a safe, affirming environment. I'm here to support you as you get curious about your past, present, and future.

My name is David Welch, M.A., LCPC. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor in Illinois. I have over 30 years of experience in working with both mental health, as well as addiction and substance use. I have worked in a variety of settings including inpatient, residential, outpatient, private practice, and Telehealth. I truly believe that people are more than a diagnosis. I see clients as being stuck rather than as mentally ill. Therapy is about helping others to recognize their negative patterns and creating new more empowering patterns. I love helping others to create massive positive changes in their lives.

Hi, Me Jane. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 35 years of experience. It is difficult to seek help. I recognize the strength and courage it takes to reach out. You can feel safe, accepted, and listened to in our sessions. This is your time to be you and say what you need to unburden yourself. Sometimes we need guidance while at other times we need someone to listen and hold space for us. It is possible that you are looking for a fresh take on your circumstances or have tried "everything" out there and are ready to give up. You may feel discouraged but together we can work on what is important to you.

Accepting new clients! Are you feeling stuck in patterns or cycles that no longer work? Do you feel misunderstood by people in your life? Challenged by the limits of your brain or body when you have difficulty meeting expectations set by society? I am here to help! We can work together on processing experiences from your past, building healthy relationships with yourself and others, or strengthening a compassionate inner voice. The way I approach therapy is built around the idea that no one exists alone. The way we are now is a result of the relationships, experiences, and connections we've had throughout our lives.

While there are many quick-fix therapies in the world of mental health treatment, I believe that depth-based work is essential to creating change that truly sticks. As such, I view it as important for us to develop a strong, trusting & meaningful working relationship early in our work together & for us to use our relationship as the foundation for our successful work together. One of the gifts that therapy offers is an opportunity to be truly heard & supported. That foundation of support can be a powerful addition to one’s life when it is effectively developed between a client & therapist. Every client is different.

All of us are striving to be true to ourselves and our loved ones around us. Feeling authentic and true to who we are can assist us in living life the way we would like to. Sometimes, our mood-related difficulties and our life experiences can get in the way our authenticity. You could be experiencing mood-related difficulties as a reaction to grief, trauma, depression, substance use, identity issues, cross-cultural issues, and relational difficulties, which I specialize in working with. Through my own lived experiences, I have a keen interest in working with immigrants, first-generation immigrants, and fellow therapists.

Societal norms, social oppression, and even loved ones can contribute to us feeling like we are not enough. This can have a significant impact on our thoughts and feelings about ourselves, and our negative automatic thoughts can be persistent and isolating. They can affect the way we approach others and how we navigate the world.

On the outside it seems you have it together. You're successful and well respected but inside there's a fear that they'll find out what a fraud you are. When the mask falls they'll all know the effort it takes to get things done. They don't know how loud it is in your head: all the noise, the anxiety, insecurity, negative self evaluations. You get things done but not without a ton of energy. It impacts work, self, and even relationships. You're tired and lost. This is life as you know it but it doesn't actually have to stay this way.

The ideal client is prepared for a new journey and experience. Clients who work with me soon realize that their strength and freedom comes from within. They feel liberated from their emotional constrains and fears. Through therapy, my clients discover that "They" are the creators and drivers of their own lives. They experience emotional freedom that, in turn brings more balance in their lives. Clients achieve stress relief, improve their self-esteem and self-concept, and experience increased levels of satisfaction in their relationships. They experience an increased ability to work out conflicts in a constructive way.

I believe that a being able to relate to a person from a highly empathic place and equal cultural basis is an important factor and often a key to a deeper understanding of a person's emotional pain and suffering.
I am a bilingual psychologist originally from South America. I provide therapy in Spanish and English, and have worked extensively with clients of Latin descent. I specialize in treating adults with mood disorders/depression/bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress/trauma, anxiety disorders, life transitions, male depression, issues related to loss and grief, and relationships. My approach to therapy is highly empathic and is based on care and respect. I strongly believe in establishing a relationship of equals and mutual respect between therapist and client; one that leads to a guided journey of self-discovery and change.

My clients are very important to me. It is a privilege to accompany people on a journey of self-reflection, vulnerability, and growth. I meet you where you are, say the hard thing (with kindness, humor, empathy, and creativity), and work to understand your complexities and the unique ways you wish to grow. I love working with a wide variety of people, but particularly specialize in the treatment of disordered eating, body image anxieties, sexuality, chronic pain, attachment issues, and addictive/ compulsive behaviors.

I have 10+ years experience with adults of all ages and with many common struggles including anxiety, depression, complex family dynamics, relationship dynamics, difficult life transitions, and the effects of chronic illness.
I approach clinical work from a trauma-informed perspective and with the idea that the client is the expert on their own life. I am trans and queer-identified, and I am passionate about working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I understand the struggle to find a therapist who can understand one’s community both from professional and personal experience. I also know that both art and therapy can be intimidating and my goal is to provide a space where both feel accessible.
