Clients learn to become their authentic selves, by focusing on their relationships with themselves, others, and the world, and promote learning and skills building to better navigate life's challenges. I endeavor to provide a judgment-free environment full of acceptance, safety, and security that fosters empowerment, and promotes a sense of agency and capacity for self-advocacy, as they move toward becoming their unique selves.

As a couples and sex therapist, I work with clients who find themselves at a crossroads in their relationship, facing challenges with communication, intimacy, or sexual satisfaction. My role is to guide them with compassion and expertise, helping them achieve a deeper, more fulfilling connection. I specialize in providing a non-judgmental environment where couples can address relationship challenges, communication breakdowns, and sexual concerns.

The first question most therapists will ask is "what brings you to therapy?" Well, I have a different question to ask, have you ever found yourself stuck in a loop, replaying the same thoughts over and over? Picture this: an event, a conversation, a stressor, playing on repeat in your mind, leaving you mentally drained with no way out.

It is my goal as a therapist is to create a trusting, supportive, non-judgmental relationship with you. I work with adults of all ages, and I focus on your strengths to move you towards your goals. I work with individuals struggling with the emotional and behavioral issues of mood and personality disorders. In addition, I assist older clients navigating major life changes. I also specialize in working with individuals struggling with addictions, addressing guilt and shame and uncovering the root of addiction. Last, I help families learn how to support an individual who struggles with addiction.

I work with couples who are experiencing significant challenges in their relationship, including those who may be on the brink of divorce. They may be dealing with communication breakdowns, emotional disconnection, unresolved conflicts, or the impact of past traumas. I also work with individual clients who may not have an obvious history of trauma but may be struggling with anxiety, depression, or other challenges that make it difficult to thrive. They might feel overwhelmed by daily stressors, experience low self-esteem, or struggle to manage their emotions and maintain a positive outlook.

My work experience has spanned a variety of settings, through which I developed a strong clinical background rooted in ACT, DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches.

Dr. Heidi Ramirez is currently a post-doctoral psychologist. She graduated with a doctorate of psychology (Psy.D.) in clinical forensic psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles Campus. Her clinical experience consists of working with underserved populations, specifically with incarcerated adolescents and adult males. She began her training with children and adolescents who were assigned to a trauma-informed charter school in Los Angeles, CA and completed her pre-doctoral internship at a forensic psychological private practice in Tempe, AZ.

It seems to me that at the core of what we want is to know we are loved and deeply known. We want connection and peace with ourselves, family members, partners, and friends. I walk alongside clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self esteem issues, identity, parenting issues, anger, and life transitions. I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults and couples. I also have experience working with blended families, infidelity, separation, and sexual concerns. I am only available to meet clients online.
