I work with people who are experiencing anxiety and distress. Many feel stuck in unsatisfying experiences. We can gently explore these experiences in ways that can loosen their "grip", and bring innate healing resources into play, cultivating a deeper sense of ease and opportunity in everyday experience. The dissolving of these unsatisfying patterns, and the appearance and growth of more satisfying ones, happens in both individual and relationship therapy.

Relationship issues can hijack your life. Dysfunctional romantic and family relationships, demanding bosses, inappropriate coworkers, weird friends, or complicated roommates can all be the kinds of relationships that isolate us; affect our sleep, appetites, and focus; and stir up BIG feelings. Breaking up, even if it's the right thing to do, can turn our lives upside down while we feel pressure on us to “just move on already,” when we are grieving. Sometimes we are having a hard time grieving loved ones who have died. Difficult relationships can also cause collateral damage to your relationship with yourself.

It is ok to not be ok. As we go through life, stressors increase, anxieties grow, and we can forget what it means to just be. We bring to relationships a lifetime of experiences which can hinder us or help us. Through all of this haze, we can lose sight of taking care of ourselves, understanding our needs, and making choices with those needs in mind. Being a human is a work-in-progress. I see it as an honor to stand with someone as they confront, explore, renovate, and soothe the self. With work, I believe a person can find their shine.

Beginning therapy and choosing a therapist can be scary and overwhelming, but I am excited that you are taking this step! As your therapist, I will empower you to reach your goals and be there for you through life's many stressors. I enjoy working with clients who are seeking support after experiencing adversity, processing current or past traumas, addressing beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve them, and exploring who they are and want to be. I believe in the importance of acknowledging and appreciating the many layers of my client's identities, and I aim to create a safe space to explore your unique context and experiences.

To engage in the work of psychotherapy is a profound act of courage. It requires risk, persistence, and often the willingness to look at very painful experiences. To seek positive change in one's life is a mark of health and strength. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with New Insights Behavioral Health Services, located near the Blue line. I have 21 years of specialized experience providing therapy in English and Spanish to children, adolescents and adults. I utilize evidence-based therapies in my practice, focusing on issues that include anxiety, depression, trauma, and marital/ relationship concerns.

Most clients come into therapy because of their current difficulty resolving a "presenting problem". That problem could be grief. It could be relationship troubles with partners, peers, or parents. It could be tied to substance abuse. Or trauma. Or both. It could be work-related. It could be a million things. Whatever the presenting problem, it tends to give the client physiological and psychological discomfort, which leads to the search for answers and relief, which often leads to counseling.

Are you hoping for a therapist that can really help you with living a more satisfying life? Are you ready to stop struggling with anxiety? A key element to therapy that all my clients should feel is a comfort and safety in our sessions. I believe that is one of the keys to quality therapy and lasting change. I believe an essential catalyst to therapy is one's willingness to gently pull back the layers of their being to discover who they are at their core. Therapy is a collaborative process and I want to join all my clients as they take steps towards a life that is constantly moving towards emotional and physical well being.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative and direct. I believe developing an honest, authentic therapeutic relationship is key to making changes, so providing a non-judgmental, trauma informed space is my priority. We’ll laugh in sessions (yes, therapy can be fun!) and work together to identify your goals, highlight and build upon your strengths and insights, and explore concepts like vulnerability, intimacy, and self-compassion.

Sometimes people come to a point in their life when they feel stuck. After trying to solve their challenges on their own, they come to realize they could use some help. You may have arrived at a place in your life where additional support overcoming an obstacle would be helpful. You may sense the need for a safe place to heal or grow. Counseling is a place where you can be authentic, acknowledge your challenges and create a plan to move forward toward wholeness. We can work together to achieve your goals and create a more fulfilling life. Growth and change is possible for everyone.

I am the owner of InnerBloom Therapy Practice. I work with adults, children, and teens. I also work with parents to help them learn how to support their child and facilitate change at home by implementing strategies worked on during sessions. I help clients who experience stress and anxiety, life transitions, loss, mood disorders, problems at school, behavior issues, and difficulty regulating their emotions and developing connections with others. My fifteen years of experience as a school social worker have provided me with an understanding of the daily stressors and mental health needs of children and teens.
