If you would like, I would be happy to offer a Christian-integrated approach to our sessions.
Do you feel like no one truly knows you? Do you feel like if people knew the REAL you that you wouldn't be accepted or loved? Depression, shame, and anxiety are all common experiences as we reflect on our unwanted behavior, relational discord, past trauma, and family of origin. The motivation to change becomes all that much harder when you seek it out alone. You want to believe there is hope for a brighter day. Let's work together as we honor your resiliency and work towards healing because the question "what would you prefer?" is worth asking. You want to live a life of freedom. Let's boldly walk into that freedom together.

Navigating emotions, making sense of them, and finding ways to express them can be challenging. Therapy should be a safe and confidential space to process difficult emotions and their impact on you, allowing you to discover new insights and perspectives. With time and consistency, you'll notice feeling less overwhelmed and stuck, and more secure and at peace. My practice is centered on not just listening to you, but listening "between the lines" to truly understand you. Whether you are working through individual challenges, or challenges as a couple, I would love to support.

Hey there! Are you dealing with feelings of guilt, negative self-talk, doubt, or worthlessness? You don't have to handle these challenges on your own. My aim is to assist you in navigating your emotional struggles using various theoretical approaches, such as cognitive behavior therapy, existential therapy, and solution-focused therapy. You’re a college student or corporate girlie struggling with adulting & the transition to the “real world”. I get it, I’ve been there! No one really prepares you for the stress and confusion adulthood brings. (Hello, imposter syndrome). How do you convince your friends, family, teachers, or boss you know what you're doing? More importantly, how do you convince yourself? You are overthinking, insecure, and would rather doom scroll than face reality. I’m here to guide you with the tools needed to feel confident, successful, & independent while treating you as a whole- not just your symptoms.

The things that we experience and go through in life can create different lens in which we see ourselves. Like a pair of glasses, each one is different and can have a different impact on the story we tell about who we are. Sometimes with the things we experience can create a lens of low sense of self, anxiety, depression, or even trauma responses. It's important to have someone you trust who can aid in walking you through those different experiences to be able to dismantle the thoughts and the emotions, from the experiences to lead you to living a happier and more fulfilling life.

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space, we have the power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom” by Victor E. Frankl. If you find yourself in between and need that space - making sense of different experiences you have had, the story you hold, and navigating life transitions, then I am here to provide that space for you. It may sound daunting for some and inviting for others, and everything in between for a few. Wherever you find yourself on the spectrum, I applaud you for taking the first step in seeking therapy - I see a great advocate for yourself in YOU.

You cognitively "know" that there isn't danger in your life currently, but it feels like your body hasn't gotten the message yet. You feel like you're stuck in a state of high alert and can't get your brain or your nervous system to relax. You're aware of the self-help tools that are supposed to reduce your worry and anxiety, but you feel stuck when they don't work consistently, and then you get into a shame spiral about what "should" be working for you. We can work together to connect your head and your heart, so that the knowledge that you've done the work to understand actually connects with the rest of your body.

Do you or a loved one experience and express emotions differently from others? Hyper-focus on interests in a way that allows for a state of ‘flow,’ but pulls from responsibilities and loved ones? Take in more sensory information than others and sometimes get overloaded by it? Has anyone ever suggested that you or your loved one might be Autistic or an ADHDer? While there are many strengths to neurodivergence, there can be difficulties due to living a world that is not designed for or accommodating of different neurotypes. It can also be difficult to know how best to support our loved ones who are Autistic or ADHDers.

We all struggle with wondering who we are and what we are here for! This is part of being human. If you are struggling it can feel horrible and influence the lens you see the world through. Maybe you’re looking for healing and restoration around a painful event, fertility journey, pregnancy or postpartum experience. Are you searching for your voice, meaning, and hope? Your faith and spirituality are important to you, but do you experience disconnect in knowing how to live a transformed life? Do you just want to be a more authentic person and know counseling helps in some way with that?

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
