I am here to work with your chronic pain, grief, anxiety, depression, and Queer identity development.
Your brain may be buzzing with worry, feeling overwhelmed with day to day tasks, or the urge to run away from what is making you feel this way. You could even be feeling afraid or scared of the thoughts that are coming up in your mind, making the sadness harder to carry or making you feel more tired. It can be exhausting to hold that pain alone but you deserve a reliable, affirming space so that you can let it all out, get steady and find balance.

I work with transgender, non-binary, LGBQIA, and cisgender folks who are processing trauma, experiencing anxiety and/or depression, and struggling with family or relationship issues.
Oftentimes, we develop patterns of behaving and relating to others as a way of coping with and protecting ourselves from our early environments. As we expand out past those early experiences and relationships, we may find that these old ways of thinking, behaving, and relating no longer work for us. Together in therapy, we will explore the origins and functions of those patterns, gaining an awareness of how they show up and how we might develop a new path.

You may be experiencing feelings of discomfort, social anxiety, numbness, negative self-talk, or other pains that make it difficult to be present.
I am a queer, non-binary, and transgender therapist passionate about supporting members of the LGBTQ2SIA+ community and anyone interested in exploring their personal identities. I see the world through a trauma-informed, anti-imperialist, and feminist lens and provide neurodivergent, CNM, poly, kink, and BDSM affirming care. In a world filled with false binaries that try to box people in, I emphasize the truth of spectrums and the boundless diversity in each individual.

I've had experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with common struggles like anxiety, depression, OCD, complex family dynamics, life transitions, parenting struggles, self-worth, self-harm, and gender/sexuality exploration.
Therapy can be an amazing tool to help you reconnect to your life and others when you're feeling stuck. I believe it is important to recognize a person’s whole lived experience, the systems they are a part of and how intersecting identities can contribute to addressing their stress. As a LGBTQ+ Latinx person, I often draw from intersectional feminist, multicultural, social justice, and trauma-informed frameworks to help explore and process present and past events and every day stressors. I focus on creating a non- judgmental space where collaboration occurs to meet your needs with playfulness, empowerment, and self-compassion.

My specialties include but not limited to treating depression, anxiety, co-occurring disorders, and relationships.
Danielle's overall work experience is in behavior medicine mainly addresses the health and mental health care needs of adults and children, often times involving substance abuse through a holistic approach, (or with the use of psychotropic medication when needed). I am also skilled in identifying maladaptive behaviors, which may inhibit a patient achieving optimal physical health, and implementing brief, focused interventions in decreasing or eradicating such behavior. In addition, I also use social and psychological evaluation techniques to promote physical health and wellness to underserved populations.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
