My professional training in various theories and models led me to reflect on my beliefs about human nature, how problems develop within people, and their capacity to change. Taking an Adlerian approach allows me to counsel through my core beliefs: society/the dominant culture’s oppressive ways impact people and therefore a shift to a more egalitarian society needs to occur; with empathic, compassionate, and culturally responsive support, people can change, grow, and improve their lives for both self and social interest; and with culturally responsive education and support, society can do better with each other and for each other.

My job is to help you hear that inner voice, the one you quiet down because doing the norm "feels more natural". I recognize the many life challenging struggles an individual can be faced with. Therapy can be viewed as stigmatizing and can discourage people to seek mental health support. Specializing in perinatal mental health, I work with mothers and fathers who are enduring heightened stress, depression, anxiety, OCD, and sleep issues that have developed or exacerbated during pregnancy or postpartum. I am extremely compassionate and dedicated to helping those who have experienced pregnancy termination, infertility, and perinatal grief and loss. I also have special clinical interests and experience in chronic pain, self-medication with cannabis, endocrine disorders, and other physical health ailments. I effectively and appreciatively also meet with mental healthcare providers, same-sex parents, and caregivers.

I have experience working with a variety of mood (depression and bipolar), anxiety (phobias and panic) and adjustment disorders as well as the impact medical and psychiatric conditions can have on one's life and family. I enjoy helping people get to the other side of life transitions, like healing from divorce, changing jobs or careers, or caregiving stress. And for people already recovering from addiction (yours or someone else's), I bring a deep understanding of 12 Step recovery to the therapeutic experience.

I am a Health Psychologist who approaches clients with empathy. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with an influence of Adlerian theory, to be goal-oriented and positive-focused in treating depression, anxiety, physical illnesses, sleep problems, weight management, recovery from substance use and other lifestyle conditions. I help people overcome their fears and resistance to change through the use of Motivational Interviewing (MI). This helps remove barriers to achieving goals and achieving them successfully. My purpose in my work is to help each client become the best version of their 'self'.
