Silently battling depression and anxiety, daily stepping through another unseen storm. Facing uncertainty, where waves of doubt and subtle shifts in your mood and thoughts often go unnoticed by others. The world around you continues, yet you feel you're moving through it slowly, struggling to keep up. Smiles and laughter, once effortless, now require a conscious effort, a performance for the world that suppresses the turmoil growing inside. You find yourself retreating into your thoughts, where worries and fears swirl, leaving you feeling alone. Yet, in the quiet, there's a resilient spirit within you—a silent determination to LIVE!

The most important relationship you will ever have is the one you have with yourself. The way you speak to yourself and the instant thoughts that you have will often lead to the decisions that you make. As humans, we deal with so much letdown and anxiety. In a world full of chaos, it may seem like you can only depend on yourself to get through each day. Sometimes, starting over or getting in touch with ourselves can be a real struggle. When we’re struggling, seeking therapy could be helpful.

Entering an intimate space with yourself is not an easy task. But with the help of someone you trust, it makes the journey a bit easier to embrace. It is my belief that my job as a therapist is to help my clients connect the dots within their lives to enhance their mental health. This is done by unpacking, exploring and examining roadblocks from our past that are preventing us from being present in the present. This type of awareness helps to foster continual growth & grants access to understanding the story behind our behaviors.

Change is a process that begins with the way one thinks about things. We all experience times of darkness and deep sorrow. We experience anxiety and also struggle with life transitions. Healing comes when we take the time to share our stories, connect with our feelings, and explore our experiences. As you consider therapy, know that feelings of sadness, anxiety, shame, guilt, confusion, and longing are experienced by everyone. Processing what is troubling you can bring a sense of relief and balance. Self awareness can add purpose to your life.

This a group practice that employs clinicans of various ethnicities and backgrounds. People come to therapy due to feeling excessive stress at work, at home, or in their relationships. They find the pressures of everyday life have exceeded their abilities, overwhelmed their senses, and left them with an inability to cope. They are often having problems with school, completing tasks, getting along with others at work, and finding activities enjoyable. We believe in the resiliency of the human spirit, and that therapy is a process of exploring and getting to know oneself.

Intervention Therapists

How does an intervention work?

An intervention is a planned, structured meeting in which a person’s family or friends voice concerns about the person’s behavior and its consequences; the goal is for the person to accept treatment. In this meeting, the person’s loved ones (often with the guidance of a trained interventionist) share how the person’s behavior has harmed them and the consequences if the person refuses treatment. They collectively ask the person to accept a proposed treatment plan.

How effective are interventions?

There isn’t extensive research on the efficacy of interventions, in part because success is difficult to measure. Individuals often enter addiction treatment after an intervention, for example, but treatment itself may not work, especially if the person only begins due to external pressure from others rather than due to internal motivation to change. However, if all other attempts at helping someone have failed, an intervention may be worth exploring.

What are the limitations of interventions?

While a friend or family member’s intentions are in the right place in wanting to help a loved one through an intervention, there are significant limitations to the approach. The surprising nature of the event can make the person feel ambushed or judged. They may feel embarrassed or ashamed as a result, and relationships may be strained or broken. This can make it difficult for the individual to be receptive to the concerns of their loved ones and the interventionist.

Are there alternatives to interventions?

Rather than confronting a loved one through an intervention, an effective and less pressured approach is to create space for a caring, open, one-on-one conversation. This works best if the loved one asks open-ended questions, listens attentively to the answers, and frames their observations and statements with concern rather than judgment. More than one conversation may be needed, but change can take root over time.
