I specialize in utilizing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to treat OCD and other anxiety related concerns including social anxiety and perfectionism.
Hello! I'm Kimberly. I am a therapist who prioritizes genuine human connection and compassion and understands the importance of finding a therapist with whom you feel connected and safe with. I strive to provide a space that is casual, relaxed, and authentic while also ensuring that the hard work of therapy is able to be done. Some of my hopes for therapy are to help you live your life in a value aligned way, to encourage you to hold compassion for yourself, to better understand the relationship between thoughts and behaviors, and to help you practice acceptance of things we cannot change or control.

Feeling anxious, angry, depressed, isolated from friends and family? Dealing with a difficult life situation or trying to break bad habits, you just can't seem to shake? You're not alone. I believe that everybody has the ability to heal from the pain of the past, face the challenges of today, and go beyond the hurdles of tomorrow. Sometimes we just need a little help along the way.

Is your child or teen struggling with anxiety, depression, parental divorce, making friends, or challenges that come with an Autism Spectrum Disorder? Are you a young adult experiencing a life transition, relationship difficulties or grief and loss? If so, psychotherapy can help. My goal is not to provide strategies that simply lead to short term relief, but to work with you or your child to reduce symptoms quickly, while creating long-lasting change- a process that I believe only occurs in the context of a safe and trusting relationship.

As a Latina and a child of immigrant parents, I understand the importance of creating a safe space for clients of all backgrounds and experiences. I am here to offer acceptance and support while helping clients challenge and cope with life’s challenges. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy and I find it important to explore specific strategies and tools that work for clients and their goals. I have experience working in community behavioral health and have extensive knowledge of various mental health needs.

One of the most challenging steps in the therapeutic process is making the first call. People are often concerned about the stigma that surrounds therapy but seeking out services in itself shows a high level of courage and strength, as well as an interest in growth and change. I will support and encourage you throughout your journey. I believe that therapy is a unique path that you should not have to go through alone.

I also co-lead an Eating Disorder & Body Image therapy group as well as a Radically Open DBT Skills group for those struggling with overcontrolled personality traits such as perfectionism, rigidity & social isolation commonly experienced by those struggling with anxiety, OCD and eating/body issues.
If you are feeling trapped and consumed by anxiety, an eating disorder, body image distress or OCD, I am a personable, compassionate and non-judgmental therapist who can help you take charge of your life again. I would feel privileged to provide you with a safe space and useful coping tools in a friendly therapeutic setting. Intense emotions and obsessive thinking often take us out of the present moment and slow our progress towards a life of passion, presence and purpose.

I have a strong focus on addressing the needs of individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders, addiction/substance use challenges, older adult psychological and neuropsychological concerns, as well as trauma-related issues.
Everyone deserves to have a safe and welcoming space to enter where they can work on whatever is on their mind without being concerned about what the therapist thinks or feels. Coming to therapy can be difficult because it can mean having to face some difficult truths and realizations. Your well-being is important, and you don't have to face your struggles alone. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, or any other concern, there are therapists who are ready to listen. Together, we will work at a pace that is appropriate and manageable to achieve your goals.

Maybe your anxious thoughts are making you seek reassurance and you want to crawl out of your skin, perhaps OCD is consuming more of your day, or you’re a mom struggling with postpartum stuff, thinking that you may actually be going crazy this time, and let’s not forget how stressful decision making can be! Whatever it is, let’s talk and figure it out.
So, how's the scroll? Looking for a therapist can be stressful enough because most people are unsure how to find the right therapist. The greatest predictor of success in therapy is the strength of the relationship with your counselor. In other words, it’s best to choose someone that you click with because it’s going to be easier for you to trust the process. I’m definitely a straight shooter, and I tell it like it is, but I always have your best interests in mind. I combine evidence-based treatments with talk therapy, and somehow, humor tends to creep in from time to time too.

I utilize CBT, DBT, RO DBT, CPT, and a splash of ACT to address addiction, disordered eating including binge eating disorder, body image/acceptance, trauma, mood disorders and OCD.
I approach my therapeutic work as my genuine self, incorporating humor, directness, and accountability in our sessions, to build rapport and challenge clients towards their identified goals. I recognize societal and other life-factors that impact/influence each individual, gaining understanding of each person’s unique framework for moving through the world. I believe a diagnosis defines a constellation of symptoms, it does not define a person. I also value and welcome feedback in order to provide the best possible clinical care - and it's a beautiful place to practice self-advocacy.

Many people find it difficult to escape their inner negative dialogue, which often become a part of our behavioral patterns. Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
