I believe most people could benefit from counseling to help navigate through life's challenges. It is not always easy to ask for emotional support. I know that everyone has the ability to live up to their fullest potential. I am here to give positive guidance through that journey. Healthy relationships are one of the biggest factors in having a fulfilling life. Unfortunately, people at some point in their life may have what seems like an endless struggle with their partner, family, friends, workplace, school, or with substance use concerns. I will guide you to keep healthy relationships.

Our lives are filled with stressors that create difficult moments. Finding a therapist to help manage these issues can be intimidating. Don't let this stop you! These stressors can lead to anxiety, depression, and/or behavioral issues that complicate how we deal with our daily lives. Working as a therapist in different settings has helped me realize that the key to effective therapy is your comfort. When you feel comfortable, you gain the ability to make meaningful life changes.

We all possess the ability for healing, growth, and self-development. Sometimes our efforts toward improvement need helpful nudges. As a therapist, I hope to join you on your journey in the here and now, walking alongside you, the challenges you face, and the growth you hope to experience. Of course, self-healing can be done alone, yet sometimes a therapist can be a helpful addition.

The world can feel overwhelming at times. We are prone to feeling a sense of loss, loneliness, separation, anxiety, sadness, anger and fear. While all of these feelings are common and normal, sometimes, we feel them far too much. It can feel like you just want to hit a reset button or maybe even put life on pause. You might possibly feel that no one really understands, that possibly things are far too complex to fix.

We can all use a little help sometimes. Counseling can provide us with a space to explore our authentic selves and try out new strategies for coping with life's challenges, free from judgment. The individuals and families I support are typically seeking relief from feelings of sadness, anxiety or worry, shame, hopelessness, anger, or confusion. These feelings are often associated with divorce or separation, grief and loss, family issues, or childhood trauma. The feelings and circumstances can feel all consuming and difficult to manage, but you don't need to manage them alone.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
