As a LSW with a decade of experience, I provide support and resources to individuals contending with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma and grief. I am currently accepting clients. I conduct my sessions via Telehealth/video. The treatment modalities that I have utilized the most are cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, strengths-based and solution-focused therapy. An ideal client is one that can collaborate with me to develop a working relationship based on trust and patience. I aim to work with my client to gain insight into hindering behaviors and explore positive outlets to reduce these behaviors.

When life happens, things can get hard and it is okay to ask for help. Sometimes one simply needs the space to be able to share those feelings and to learn how to manage and cope with support from another. Therapy is a normal part of that process, part of our wellness and simple put: taking care of ourselves. Life throws curveballs and sometimes when that happens, we don't know how to respond or process those moments which is how therapy can help.

It’s ok to not be ok. And when you’re not ok, it’s ok to reach out for help. Though life can often get us down, it is possible to rise above your circumstances, take control, and fight back. I believe that insight is a powerful tool in creating change within. As a therapist, I can help you better understand the connections between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With this new insight, you can identify problematic ones and challenge, replace, or reframe them. The path to change starts with identifying your underlying needs and finding more effective ways to fulfill them.

I have worked extensively with children and teens diagnosed with ADHD, ODD and BiPolar.
I believe therapy is a collaboration between client and therapist, working together to understand and shift patterns that may not be working for you anymore. I understand the strength it takes to face challenges and the sense of vulnerability that goes along with it. I believe the relationship that develops between client and therapist fosters a comfortable space where honest dialogue can happen. My approach is straightforward, encouraging and comes with a bit of humor as a way to remind ourselves that life is supposed to be enjoyed.

We believe that being the best version of ourselves requires work. Many things can obstruct our path toward self-improvement. We enjoy accompanying our clients on their path and helping them to overcome their challenges. Individuals often become entrenched in patterns of behavior and relationships that are difficult to escape. But if we can assist our clients in honestly assessing their motivations, we believe they can live authentic, meaningful lives every day.

I don't have an ideal client as I believe everyone is unique and I enjoy working with individuals and couples who are invested in changing patterns and moving into the future with a more positive outlook on themselves and how they impact others. I like to challenge and offer alternatives while also listening to what has worked and build on the positives.

Do you feel like becoming an adult is harder than you thought? From the decision making, to finding yourself, to even learning to manage anxiety and depression that feel like they are taking a front row seat to your life. You are not alone, and you do not need to be “fixed”. Transitioning between different stages of your life means that there may be some things you have to heal from and unlearn. With the right support and patience, you can learn how to navigate the world as your best self. With an emphasis on who you are, and not who you should be.

Navigating personal hurdles can be hard to do alone. We need connection! The therapeutic relationship can often truly foster growth and change. We all need a safe and neutral space to process life unfolding. Whether coping with typical stressors or working through traumatic events, I collaborate with people and can provide that. My therapy style uses mindfulness, attachment-related topics, and a trauma-informed approach. I see people's strengths and have non-judging mindset whether one is seeking support or a nudge towards change. Currently I see young adults/individuals and couples.

As far as everyone knows, you have a great life. Others view you as a hard worker, strong, and reliable. But deep down, you feel stuck, disconnected, and running on autopilot. You may feel like you are failing yourself and everyone around you. After years of prioritizing everyone else’s needs above your own, things have gotten to a point where pleasing anyone (including yourself) feels impossible. Disconnection is getting in the way of the life you want in so many ways. You aren’t the kind of friend you want to be. You feel like they are failing at love. Your confidence at work is tanking.

Bipolar Disorder Therapists

What is the most successful approach to treating bipolar disorder?

Living with bipolar disorder can be challenging, and a number of therapies have been found effective in providing support to patients as they gain the skills to understand and manage the disorder. Family-focused therapy is often helpful for children and teens (the majority of cases develop before age 19); it aims to minimize mood cycling by improving family communication and reducing conflict. It also helps young people navigate the developmental challenges the disorder can create. Cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) and variants such as Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)help patients manage the thoughts and feelings that influence bipolar mood swings as well as develop specific behavioral strategies to counteract them.

What happens in therapy for bipolar disorder?

Because the patterns of mood switching and its triggers differ for each person and can change over time, mood tracking or monitoring becomes a basic way patients learn about the nature of their condition. One of the most common features of therapy is finding a workable method of mood monitoring, in which patients track their daily activities and rate their moods, then use the findings to adjust routines accordingly. Patients learn ways of handling the many stresses that arise in life so that they do not trigger mood swings.

What kinds of problems does therapy help with?

Like many other mental health disorders, BPD is heavily influenced by stress; therapy provides skills for coping with stressors of all kinds. Therapy is extremely important for helping individuals identify the situations that may trigger mood switching, so that mood swings can be prevented. Therapy may especially target recognition of the early stages of mood change so that they can be managed. In addition, therapy helps patients deal with the significant amount of turbulence the disorder can create in relationships and in work life.

What is the goal of therapy for bipolar disorder?

Therapy helps patients set up their lives to maintain stability so that their mood isn’t constantly threatened by daily events. Perhaps the first task of therapy is to educate people about the nature of the disorder. At the same time, a primary goal of therapy is to enhance adherence to drug treatment. Extended periods of mood stability can prompt patients to discontinue medication, triggering relapse, while the early phases of manic episodes can feel so energizing that patients stop medication, ushering in full-blown mania and the altered self-perception that can lead to destructive behaviors. Another major goal of therapy is to understand one’s mood patterns so as to minimize both the frequency and intensity of mood cycling.
