I specialize in counseling adolescents and adults in the areas of parent-child relationships, couples and family problems, men's issues, anxiety, depression, and Christian spirituality.
I believe that we all have some area of our lives that we would like to change. My passion is to walk with individuals who want or need this change. For change to take place in treatment we need clear direction with measurable goals, a strong sense of hope, and a good fit between the therapist and client. I take a holistic approach to counseling that addresses the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, ethical, and spiritual needs of the client. I would love to be a part of your change process.

I have specialized training in couples therapy and behavioral difficulties with children.
It can be difficult to reach out for help at times. It shows bravery and strength and may take personal motivation to do so. Reaching out is that first step showing you have what takes to heal. I will meet you at your point of need. I help clients like you develop the skills needed to create change, accomplish goals, and live a healthier happier life. With success we begin to change our beliefs that were creating hardship to ones that create growth, health, confidence, and acceptance. I strive to treat every person as family with a warm, compassionate approach.

My broad expertise gained through clinical practice, advanced training, and as a professor helps me facilitate change for individuals of all ages, families, and couples from diverse cultural backgrounds and to help those suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, insomnia, eating disorders, behavioral and relationship issues, and other concerns.
I enjoy helping individuals heal, see breakthroughs, and increase their resilience and ability to find effective approaches to their presenting concerns. My passion is to empower clients to manage life difficulties that encroach on their envisioned life architecture by gently identifying and removing obstacles, learning adaptive coping, finding meaning and strength, and sometimes rebuilding from the very foundation when faced with life-changing adversities. Issues germinate and gain destructive power if ignored or dealt with using unhelpful distractions, so you can feel good about taking that first step to call me with no delay.

I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is integral to a successful therapy experience.
For many people, persistent and unresolved mental health issues lead to a downward spiral of marital strife, parenting difficulties, legal problems, stress, anxiety and depression. These issues can negatively impact their quality of life.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
