I specialize in Grief/Loss, Bereavement, Life Transitions, Stress Management, Chronic Disease, Neurocognitive Disorders, Anxiety, and Caregiver Support.
I know that you are not alone, and I want you to know it also. Sometimes it's hard to know where to start in sorting through our thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I cannot change what has occurred in your life or what losses you’ve had to go through. I can walk alongside of you, create a safe place for you to process events or relationships that are causing stress, and help define what you want to reach solutions. I can help you find hope when hope may seem out of reach. Therapy is an investment, and I strive to honor that investment through a highly collaborative approach.

I have worked with a variety of clients who have experienced presenting concerns to include: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, trauma, relationship and family issues, panic attacks, grief, self-harm, stress and more.
What is your anxiety level? Do you find yourself struggling with anxious thoughts, losing sleep? If so, let's consult about your mental health needs. Therapy is personal and sometimes one of the hardest first steps to take but most people have one common goal: change. This change occurs in many ways and can affect each person differently. Most people struggle with issues they encountered in their childhood, which lends to ways they manage their personal relationships, work life, and everyday living. Addressing your past is hard, but not impossible that can provide healing in your journey to mental wellness and self-discovery.

I help clients with anxiety and depression, trauma, grief, major life transition, issues with anger, and other emotional difficulties.
I work with individuals, couples, and groups who believe personal change is possible and valuable in their lives. I use an emotion focused approach, as put forth in the work of Dr. Les Greenberg, and have received formal training in Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. I believe that people are agents of their own positive change, and that many are unaware of how emotions relate to their thoughts and behavior. My clinical practice has taught me to respect the experience, worldview, and value system of each individual without imposing my own. I am an LGBTQ+ ally.

Most of my clients struggle with one or more of the following including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and grief. They are trying to find peace and someone to really listen to them and understand. I love working with clients who are wanting life to improve. I have worked with young children to the elderly. I work with individuals to find their worth and strengths to build upon.

Are you ready for a change? You may be functioning in your life, yet something in you is asking for your attention. Or maybe a recent diagnosis, loss, life transition, or stress may have you questioning how you’ve been living until now. Perhaps you are ready to face something that you’ve resisted in the past out of habit, fear, or a sense of being existentially stuck. Or maybe you know your story, and have a desire to deepen your understanding of yourself but don’t know how to get there.

As we go through life, stressors and changes often cause us to disconnect from ourselves and our inner emotions, needs, dreams, and values. Whether those stressors involve relationship challenges, grief, life transitions or other obstacles, it is important to return to focusing on what is in our control and begin the process of reconnecting with oneself and exploring what our reactions may be trying to tell us. Therapy can be a great space to begin that process!

My own grief and therapy journey, as well as eight years of allied work with trafficking survivors through non-profit service led me here.
You want to find a counselor that you feel you can be your true self with. A breath of relief, someone you can kick off your shoes and laugh and cry with. You want a counselor that's real and authentic. I believe that, too, & that you deserve to thrive, not just survive. Your brain can heal, just like how muscles recover after a workout. When collaborating with clients on their therapy goals, I see through lenses of trauma, relational connections to others, and how the brain and body work together in order to consider all factors and systems that make up a person and their experience.

I also have over 10 years of Palliative Care and Grief and Loss experience.
As an In-Home Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I understand that the storms of life can impact every one of us at one time or another. Whether you are 1 or 101, life transitions and difficult circumstances can leave you feeling anxious, depressed, scared, isolated, and powerless, robbing you of a hopeful future. Functioning under these circumstances can make it difficult to reach out for help. Whether you have a child who is struggling with major life changes, or you yourself are dealing with the loss of a loved one or another form of complex trauma, you do not need to go through these experiences alone.

A few of the modalities used in sessions are EMDR, Compassionate Inquiry Approach, IFS (parts work), polyvagal theory, grief counseling, and CBT.
You may not feel like yourself. You may feel sabotaged by unconscious behaviors. You may feel anxious, lost, and without purpose. These experiences can be emotionally painful sparking addictive behaviors, dysfunction in relationships, and limit self-development. Our work together will address the origin of embedded patterns that keep you stuck.

Most notably, I’ve worked as a bedside therapist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a contractor for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a Hospice Bereavement Coordinator, a Clinical Educator and a Behavioral Health Program Manager at St.
I have had many professional lives, but the thread between all of them has been a desire to help people. Like so many, I found myself impacted by a corporate layoff in February 2023. Although a difficult experience, it has been the inspiration for me to re-focus on what I am truly passionate about. In September 2023, I opened my own Intuitive Living Therapy practice to help people reduce suffering in their lives. I believe that through intuitive living we all have the ability celebrate our authentic selves. I want to teach you how to trust yourself, so you stop letting the world tell you your story.

Immediate openings, no waitlist. Everyone experiences periods of challenge in life. it's natural to feel stuck. Many also live with added mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, addiction, loss/grief & more. When wrestling with these challenges, it often leaves a sense of disconnectedness. It can interfere with important relationships, & it can block us from successfully pursuing important goals. This disconnectedness can lead to existential voids & unpleasant or frightening thoughts. Yet proven evidence-based treatments for this phenomenon exist.

We utilize culturally sensitive and diverse psychotherapies to treat depression and grief.
I understand that life happens and that during these difficult times a bit of reflection, guidance and contemplation may be needed to direct us towards the path that allows us to become the best and most authentic version of ourselves. My services are inclusive meaning I work with everyone and exclude nobody. Those who feel they cannot be themselves due to judgements or expectations of others are offered an empathic and understanding environment to explore what they really want to be and or achieve in life. I meet you where you are in this very moment and YOU decide the direction of your path.

I specialize in working with trauma, grief and loss, and attachment issues. I have experience working with adults, teens, and children who’ve experienced domestic and sexual violence, those struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship issues, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and folks who’ve struggled with addiction. Many of my clients work toward acknowledging and grieving the past so moving forward feels possible. I know counseling can be scary. This is why we move slowly and intentionally, making sure counseling doesn't just feel hard. There are moments of joy and celebration in healing too.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
