I am a licensed art therapist, integrating psychotherapy, somatic awareness and art therapy into sessions, depending on your needs. Art therapy does not require any art skills, but can provide a path to connecting thoughts with emotions, providing insight into problems, and discovering solutions. Whether you are more comfortable talking through issues or utilizing art therapy, I can provide you with interventions that help you tap into your emotional self, working on integration without re-experiencing traumatic events.
Building a trusting relationship in a comfortable and encouraging space comes first. In some sessions, you may choose to explore past events and issues relating to family dynamics. I sometimes utilize activities such as origami with clients of all ages. This helps build mindfulness, which relieves symptoms of anxiety and improves focus.
