Makenna is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a graduate of Idaho State University with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Makenna has experience in hospital, school, and residential settings working with a wide variety of clients. Her specialities include working with those with anxiety, mood disorders, grief & loss, and relationship issues ages 18 and older. Makenna also specializes in working in maternal mental health difficulties including infertility, traumatic birth, pregnancy, postpartum, pregnancy loss and any additional perinatal issues.

Clients who are struggling with living their best lives find connection and healing in my practice. I have a special strength in working with people who are neurodivergent to help them learn to drop the mask and live a more authentic life, as well as cope with, process, and adjust their lives to better fit their needs. I am EMDR trained. My other specialties include helping adolescents, teens, and adults work through trauma (sexual trauma is a special strength), working with highly intelligent individuals, as well as solution-focused work regarding a specific problem. Mary Beth received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University, St. Louis, MO. She also earned her Bachelor of Arts from Liberty University, Lynchberg, VA. She has worked in the field of eating disorders with both adults and adolescents in a variety of settings ranging from inpatient to the outpatient levels of care for over 6 years. Throughout her tenure she has held a variety of positions ranging from Intake, Utilization Review, to a primary therapist in the field of eating disorders.

Life can be difficult at times and I meet each client where "they are" in life without any judgment or criticism. Stress and anxiety can come in many forms and many ways, which can lead to feelings of being "overwhelmed." All trauma is different and each client has a different response/reaction to the same experience. I work with ALL families, couples, and individuals in processing, understanding, and learning to cope on their journey through life.

I work with children and adolescents who develop symptoms related to a trauma or abuse or are simply just struggling with life changes. Some of the symptoms children may develop from a trauma or abuse is nightmares, negative behaviors, defiance, thoughts of self harm, loss of appetite, anger out bursts, depression, guilt, and difficulty sustaining healthy relationships to name a few. Children and families who experience trauma need support and education with learning how to cope with thoughts and feelings related to the traumatic experience as well as learning how to function within a changed environment.
