I also offer mental health counseling in the following areas: major depressive disorder, grief and loss, anxiety disorders, adjustment issues, relationship distress, and other issues related to existential struggle.
I genuinely care about working with others who are striving to find a sense of wholeness and connection. I work with individuals and couples who might be struggling to reach resolution, accept themselves, or find internal peace of mind. I am partial to using an attachment based approach with clients. However, depending on their situation, I'm more than happy to make adjustments as needed. My services include counseling couples, finding one's authentic self, adjustment issues, and grief counseling.

My goal is to support clients in making long term change by increasing self awareness, self compassion, personal ownership and holistic well-being. Knowing oneself is necessary for a healthy ego and fulfilling relationships. Counseling can help explore who we are, how we got here and where we want to be. I believe that self compassion and personal ownership are equally important and that mindfulness and self care are critical for overall wellness.

Hi! My name is Cassaundra, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Before I tell you a little about myself, I just want say that I am really happy you are here. It is not an easy thing to ask for help, or seek out therapy! Too often our problems feel too big and it’s hard to imagine how anyone could understand, let alone help. You are not alone. The first, and hardest step, is seeking help and you have done that! As I mentioned I am a LMFT; meaning I was trained to work with individuals, families and couples. I have experience working with young children, teens, and adults.

I encourage you to reach out to me if you have experienced grief and loss, trauma, depression, relationship issues, or a sudden need to transition, especially if a church or religion has hurt you in the past.
Life can be difficult. We become laden, maybe overwhelmed with loss, trauma, anxiety, and depression without anywhere to discuss our feelings or our pain. My office is a serene environment whereby we can explore together those thoughts, feelings, and symptoms that cause a sense of being lost or alone, a place where someone will listen to you without fear of criticism or judgment. When you are ready, we can discuss interventions for your difficulties and symptoms so that you can continue on your journey, stronger and healthier.

I help clients with anxiety and depression, trauma, grief, major life transition, issues with anger, and other emotional difficulties.
I work with individuals, couples, and groups who believe personal change is possible and valuable in their lives. I use an emotion focused approach, as put forth in the work of Dr. Les Greenberg, and have received formal training in Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. I believe that people are agents of their own positive change, and that many are unaware of how emotions relate to their thoughts and behavior. My clinical practice has taught me to respect the experience, worldview, and value system of each individual without imposing my own. I am an LGBTQ+ ally.

I am gifted in working with children, teens and adults especially those struggling with grief, trauma, parental separations, and anxiety. I believe kids/people are resilient in dealing with these events if given the opportunity to do so. Children/teens often just need the unencumbered help of an empathetic adult, I offer this through play therapy sessions. I also work with adults in navigating issues such as anger, grief, parenting, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
