Although I work with a multitude of issues, I specialize in working with PTSD (trauma), attachment trauma, disregulation and grief.
I have a very large tool bag to help you move through a variety of issues. I have the equivalent of a minor in elementary education, child psychology and developmental psychology. I changed majors to Social Work and feel my added skills of psychology and education give me a different edge than a lot of counselors in the field. I work with children, adolescents, adults, seniors, military veteran's and the entire family. I work with many diagnosis's to find a solution together which suits you best in personal growth. Contact us to work together today.

No Wait List, Schedule today. We all say "therapy is Hard!" I don't want to do that! - but then, yeah, being depressed is hard, being abused was hard, having anxiety is hard. I get it, life is really tough sometimes. My goal is to help you see your strength and appreciate the process. I will ask you to do some hard things- but struggle builds strength. Most of it will be easy, most of it will be down-right enjoyable! (Heaven Forbid!) So a little bit about me. I'm great at past trauma, and grief. I'm good at anxiety, depression, and couples. I'm quirky and weird. I'm analytical and caring.

Those who seek counseling do for various reasons. For the emotionally burdened, I have used the analogy of swimming across a lake with weights on, and as additional weights are added, the individual is told to keep their head above water. The weights may be symbolic of unresolved feelings of trauma, depression, anxiety, grief or loss, relationship struggles, gender identity issues, addictive behaviors. These issues and others bring people into counseling. The opportunity to realize the totality of one’s human potential and to finally become the best version of who they were meant to be is a fulfilling journey.

I work with many people who have experienced childhood trauma, grief and other traumatic events.
Life is a journey. It is full of highs and lows and all of the moments in between. Trying to navigate life and all of its complexities independently can be challenging. Finding someone that you can build a therapeutic relationship can make the process much more manageable. You have a person who is able to educate, support, challenge, process with, encourage, motivate, cheerlead and celebrate you as you work through the challenges presented in your life. It is nice to know you are not alone. I want to be that person for you. I consider this an honor.

Hello - I'm Michele and I've been in practice for the last 16 years working with children and families first in teen crisis center, residential housing for severe and persistent mentally ill adults, as a school counselor in both elementary and middle school setting and then in community mental health. These experiences have given me understanding of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and social pressures. I understand that many of these issues impair a person's functioning at home, school, and with their friends. I've been told that I'm both playful, insightful, and yet straightforward in my approach to therapy.

Some examples include recovering from grief and loss, divorce, complex trauma and changing devastating patterns of sexual acting out behavior.
I have been practicing in the field of mental health since 1989. I work with adults and offer both individual and couples counseling. I provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can expect to experience empathy, along with meaningful connection. I work holistically, recognizing that real change occurs from the outside in as well as the inside out. I want to help clients examine how they view themselves and change things (thoughts, beliefs, emotions, behaviors and relationship dynamics) that no longer work for them. I treat depression, anxiety, complex trauma and relationship issues. I also work with First Responders.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
