I specialize in supporting Women's Issues. Relationships (marriage, divorce, dating, family), stage of life adjustments, anxiety, depression, parenting, workplace issues and grief are challenges I commonly help with. I have 25 years experience helping good people with difficult problems find a pathway forward, think more clearly, take steps to make their lives and relationships better, and increase overall calm and contentment.

I'm grateful to have spent over 30 years providing mental health services to individuals and families in the Des Moines area both as a Clinician and Supervisor in a variety of outpatient mental health settings, and as teaching in the field of Psychology as an adjunct teaching instructor for several years. I currently provide individual counseling services to adults (18 and above) both in-person and through tele-health. Areas of specialization include: trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and life transitions. Ashley is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who utilizes a range of modalities to help address areas of concern including depression, anxiety and trauma. Ashley believes therapy is a process in which the therapist and client collaborate to create positive change. Her professional training includes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and TF-EAP (Trauma Focused-Equine Assisted Psychotherapy). I am a fully licensed mental health counselor who has been practicing for 12 years. I enjoy helping people reach their full potential and lead happy, healthy lives. I have experience supporting a wide range of individuals and couples while specializing in depression, anxiety, alcoholism/addiction, and trauma-related work. I work with adults and adolescents and have experience with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, loss, and trauma. I am passionate about working with teens who have been affected by bullying. Addressing the lived effects bullying behavior can have on an individual is imperative in order to negate any residual trauma that results in feelings of depression and anxiety as a young adult. Having a safe space that encourages clients to be vulnerable is key and I hope to provide that for my clients.

Over the past 26 years I have had the privilege of helping children, adolescents and families by working for 13 years at Orchard Place as a residential therapist and school based therapist and then I worked at Broadlawns Focus High School doing individual, group and family therapy. I have done private practice for the past 13 years. I worked at New Heights Counseling for 6 years and started my own private practice in West Des Moines in October, 2023. My name is Christy Meyer. I have been a therapist for 25 years but my best experience in life is my experience as a mother. I have worked in parent education, I have experience as an adoptive mother and a foster mom.
