While I am trained in EMDR, I also have extensive experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution focused therapy.
My goal is to provide clients a safe, nurturing, and encouraging environment where they can be empowered to make necessary changes as well as gain tools to sustain those changes. I believe this is done through facilitating clients in gaining skills in self awareness, mindfulness, and developing new ways of thinking about feelings and events.

Both Art Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization ( EMDR), engage both sides of the brain for full person healing.
I love helping people heal and to be a part of that process with them. We are either healing or healed, lets get through this together. I offer a range of modalities such as EMDR and art therapy, which get the whole brain on board and are both evidence based practices. Connecting with your therapist is one thing and effective interventions is another. I like working with individuals, couples, and families to develop this relationship and address the concerns they present with. Treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and general life stressors are what I do best.

In treating complex trauma and PTSD, a wide array of modalities are used including, HeartMath, EMDR techniques, narratives, and mindfulness.
Happy to offer online therapy and remote EMDR. My work is evidence-based, unique, and creative. It is grounded in behavioral change, mindfulness, and traditional talk therapy, which has been shown to effectively reduce trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, childhood behavioral disorders, and grief. Through the therapy process adults, families, and children can find a safe place to develop the skills they need to heal, to grow, and to thrive. My goal is to make each session unique to the needs of each person so they can build upon what already makes them happy.

In EMDR I have gone through this treatment as a patient and many times as the clinician.
We will work best together if you are motivated to change. With us both working hard for your benefit, you will achieve rapid results. The method of therapy that works best for this approach is one of my areas of specialization, and it is called Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Whether you are hoping to recover from past trauma or abuse, whether you are working to overcome your depression or anxiety, to increase your self-esteem or confidence, you can do it, and we will develop a plan tailored to you. Alternatively, if you are seeking guidance or support involving a relationship, I'm happy to work with couples or families.

EMDR therapy is an evidence based integrative psychotherapy approach that has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.
"There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds" Laurell K. Hamilton. I believe that everyone has within themselves the ability to heal. I find it a privilege to walk with individual's on their personal journey to healing and living a full life. I have seen the therapeutic process open doors for individual healing. Being a part of the healing processes is a privilege where the opportunity for individuals to let go a little at a time presents, opening the door to hope and wholeness.

I utilize a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma- Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing ( EMDR), Strengths-Based Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Currently accepting new clients! I believe that the key to a positive therapeutic experience is creating a space where clients feel that their knowledge of their lives, their strengths, and their struggles is valued and heard without judgment. While therapy is often utilized in times of crisis, it can also be a space to understand yourself on a deeper level and gain skills to help reduce the intensity or frequency of future crises. I will work with you to explore the beliefs you hold about yourself, others, or the world and how these beliefs impact different areas of your life.

Strategies I use to help clients move toward a more empowered life: mindfulness (great for anxiety, stress, & coping), EMDR (trauma processing), CBT (diving into thoughts/beliefs), NLP (coping & releasing patterns), hypnosis (many uses including inner child healing), and PCIT (for parents w/kids aged 2 to 7).
Feeling stuck or anxious? Overthinking or losing sleep? Not feeling good enough in relationships or in parenting? I help adults let go of what's holding them back from thriving including anxious thinking, people pleasing, perfectionist tendencies, feelings of unworthiness, and trauma. I also help parents who are feeling defeated to create more peace and joy at home through connection. All services are online/virtual. Sessions are by video.

Life can be hard, it can be messy. We don't always know how to manage everything on our own, especially the emotional and mental stuff. When mental health issues or addiction issues are added to it things seem even harder. "...What might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey" Lemony Snicket. Having a counselor who will listen to you, help you figure out ways to cope, and walk with you through the journey of healing can make things more manageable. I enjoy working with individuals ages 12 through adult, couples, families, and groups.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light- Albus Dumbledore. I believe a small amount of hope helps a person get through most obstacles in life. Hope, to me, is the little bit of light in the darkness. My ultimate goal is to help my clients find their light. The common thread throughout my career as a therapist has been the treatment of trauma, adverse experiences, and toxic stress. Regardless of where a client is on their journey towards healing, I help them continue to take the steps to move forward.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
