My areas of special interest are grief counseling and helping those coping with anxiety, depression, life transitions, spirituality , relationship issues, existential struggles, and recovery from domestic violence. I have years of experience doing individual, premarital, and couple therapy. I am especially sensitive to those who've had losses and are coping with sadness, sorrow, or grief. My clients tell me I have exceptional listening skills and the ability to make each person feel valued. I value each person's story and honor it as I help people find meaningful, healthy, and productive lives.

I believe that we all do our best - every day - as life brings frustration, stress, and even suffering. We work so hard to get rid of our pain, yet many of our "feel better" strategies have hidden expiration dates. Inevitably distress returns, or worsens. And- as an ACT therapist (and practitioner) - I believe that your ideal life is possible. We just have to (compassionately) give up the notion that we must wait until we're free from pain to begin living that big, full life. We have to kindly show ourselves that our dreams are possible- starting right now.

I enjoy helping individuals, couples, and families build resilience and thrive through the challenges and changes and losses that life inevitably brings. I offer an empathetic listening ear and a hopeful solutions-focused approach, developing my client's strengths and coping skills to help them meet their therapy goals. I believe that human connection through healthy relationships makes all the difference when we are struggling, and I love working with people to strengthen relationships with those closest to them.

I work with children, teens, young adults, and adults with anxiety, depression, ADHD, developmental disorders (including autism), and stress related to relationships and transitions. I have significant experience working with children and their caregivers to help children who struggle with anxiety, transitions, and struggles in different situations. I enjoy helping parents have strategies to best help their children. I have a MSW degree from the University of Iowa. Prior to going into private practice I worked at the Center or Disabilities & Development at the University of Iowa Hospital for 9 years.

I work with individuals and couples of all ages. I do talk therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Rational Living Therapy. I have experience using Adlerian, Expressive Arts-Based and Aut Play types of Play Therapy techniques with kids from 2-14 years old when appropriate. I've had rewarding experiences working with neurodivergent children with different developmental needs, women and men with codependency or substance abuse concerns, couples in relationships, family members with concerns for loved ones, and in crisis counseling with those feeling like they’ve lost all hope.
