You really can have your cake and eat it, too! You can learn to enjoy food guilt free and stop avoiding mirrors. Hating what you see in the mirror directly affects how and what you eat, creating emotional eating and periods where you don't eat at all (or only very little). This fosters a fear of food, not trusting yourself around food, and a desire for more self control or willpower. I call this the diet roller coaster and it's not a fun (nor healthy) place to be. I have worked in the human services field for over 14 years. I have experience working in a community mental health clinic, providing assessment/psychiatric evaluation in the ER & ICU, providing group counseling to individuals with PTSD and DID, and providing counseling to adolescents, adults, and couples. My experience includes working in school settings with at-risk youth struggling with behavioral issues and mental health diagnoses. I specialize in providing care for those with sexual abuse histories, sexual assault, domestic violence, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, self harm and/or suicidal ideation.
