I have been working in the counseling field for 20 years. I enjoy helping clients help themselves move forward and live a healthier life. I've worked in college counseling centers, community mental health, schools, and in Corporate America. I use a cognitive behavioral approach and focus on each client's strengths. I've worked with many clinical issues: including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and many other issues that interfere with one's ability to enjoy life. I have special interest in working with issues of terminal illness, grief loss and transition with children individuals and families. I work with children with attachment, ADHD, trauma, and behavioral issues. I work with women issues surrounding self- esteem and personal growth. I have an extensive background in theater and the arts. I incorporate nature, animals, drama, art and play into my therapies with clients. My work also focuses on treating PTSD and anxiety. I incorporate trauma informed care into my work. I believe healing is possible and I am here to walk the path with my clients to a place of growth and positive change.

I am a Licensed Independent Level Social Worker (LISW) and certified substance abuse counselor (IADC). I have been providing therapy since 2009, working in community mental health and hospital settings. Kaygen, an LMSW, earned her Bachelor's in Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa in 2023 and her Master's in Social Work with a concentration on trauma-informed care from the same institution in 2024. Kaygen works with clients of all ages and backgrounds, specializing in treatment of Trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression and adults and teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorder and mild intellectual disabilities. Pursuing certification in Play Therapy and Theraplay, Kaygen provides a safe, welcoming environment, using a collaborative approach to identify goals and treatment options.

I have over 15 years experience working as a clinician with children, adults, couples and families. Areas of practice: trauma informed, play therapy, grief/loss, CBT. Practice settings include: individual and family mental health therapy with community-based services, youth in residential treatment and temporary shelter placements. Medical settings include: hospice, home health, long-term care facilities acute care. Practice with groups for caregiver support, grief/loss groups for children ages 5 through adults, and children's bereavement camp for children 5 and up.
