Leita received her Bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose University and her Masters in Science of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Illinois University. My name is Amy Halls and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I use a very collaborative approach by listening to my clients, establishing their goals together, and then providing insight, wisdom, humor (where appropriate), techniques and skills to help them overcome and move through their difficulties.

I have been providing therapy support within the Des Moines area for over 24 years and the co-founder of the counseling agency Lifeworks Inc. My primary areas of interest include helping individuals overcome challenges with depression, anxiety, social phobias, low self-esteem, anger issues and overall learning how to effectively manage challenging emotions that often present themselves. My experiences, personally and professionally, have made me competent in the areas of adoption, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, ADHD, autism, grief, and life transitions. I enjoy working with clients of all ages (age 6 and older) and provide individual, parent, and family therapy. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an engineer and then I was a stay at home mom for 9 years. I had a transformative experience with therapy after some challenges with the birth of my third child. This experience inspired me to go back to school in my forties and become a therapist so I could help others who may be struggling.
