I am experienced in both psychoanalytic and behavioral approaches to treatment and believe in adapting these to fit the individual, in order to create a strong alliance that will build confidence in your ability to change. I am experienced in treating eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia, as well as other addictions, and am very familiar with issues of personal and familial trauma, aging and loss. I often work with creative individuals or students who feel blocked in their careers or academic programs. In addition, I offer clinical supervision for other therapists.
I have published widely on literature and on the history of psychoanalysis. British by birth, I have long been a New Yorker, but having lived and studied in Britain, Italy, the Far East and the USA, I am sensitive to cultural differences and problems of adaptation, and enjoy working with clients from around the world, especially East Asia.
