With 20 years of experience in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy, I am one of the few Japanese-English bilingual, Marriage and Family Therapists in the State of Hawaii. I provide therapeutic services to adults and children with a systemic focus on intercultural relationships, teenagers and their family systems, and preventive care for mothers in various stages of their motherhood. I have led Mauli Ola Care, a private psychotherapeutic practice since 2008 and have also provided clinical supervision for post-graduate therapists for their MFT licensure.

She believes that you know what’s best for yourself; she can help you figure out some pieces and process through therapeutic tools. Meriah specializes in working with people who have an intersection with disability (- autism, neurodiverse, Down syndrome, deaf, blind, intellectual, or developmental disability, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, physical disability, chronic illness, mental illness). “Intersection” with disability being either an acquired disability, disabled through life, a child or loved one with a disability or a recently acquired disability.

I am a psychodynamic therapist trained in Berkeley, Calif., and primarily work from Object Relations and Control Mastery theories. I also incorporate the Japanese based Naikan psychotherapy and Mindfulness Meditation that may benefit from more of an Eastern approach in their treatment.
