I have 25 years experience working with adolescents and children in Hawaii. I work with a variety of issues including depression, cutting, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse, anxiety, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder and other significant behavior problems. I am especially adept at trust building and motivating teens who are resistant. My name is Dr. Megumi Makepeace. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I was raised on Oahu in a very traditional Japanese family, spent many years as a military dependent on the Mainland, which brought these experiences to my multicultural approach to therapy. I am fully aware of the cultural makeup of Hawai’i, and the unique and diverse cultures of the local population as well as those new to the island. I have a passion to treat culturally diverse, underserved populations, and assist families navigate through tough life transitions.
