Psychological trauma occurs when our level of stress exceeds our ability to cope with that stress. This often creates a disregulated nervous system (stuck in "fight-or-flight" survival mode) that may show up as feeling anxious or depressed, ADHD, memory issues, confusion, dissociation, or just feeling stuck. I specialize in helping womxn who have had abuse from narcissistic men. This type of romantic relationship is known as a "pathological love relationship" (PLR). I believe that each of us has the ability to achieve our highest potential despite whatever path life has taken us. We move forward despite the difficulties presented to us along the way. Sometimes along this path we are faced with circumstances that make it difficult to cope. There are times when childhood experiences, hurtful interactions with others or horrific events can interrupt our present day functioning to create stress in our day-to-day living. I specialize in working with new adults and adolescents (ages 15-25), however I am happy to work with adults of all ages. In particular, my work is especially beneficial for those going through life changes or personal transitions. My work is often especially helpful and oriented to support the following experiences: feeling a lack of meaning in life, existential doubt or dread, depression or lack of motivation, isolation or feeling isolated, longing to connect to the larger world or some form of personal spirituality, experience of abuse or toxicity in personal relationships, history of suicidality or thoughts of death.

I've had a psychotherapy practice in rural Pahoa for 18 years. Psychotherapy/Counseling works best when clients are met by someone who really cares AND the therapist has a wide-range of psycho-therapeutic skills and Life Experience.
